Ok, I'm having problems...

I've read the readme's and other .txt that came with the appropriate zips. I have also read almost every single thread on this board that pertains to what I'm looking for (Also other forums are included).

I have MySQL (go me). I have the Addon, I have the Emu. I have unzipped every single one to various directories as well as the same directory for easier access.

The appropriate configurations to trouble shoot my problems are quite simple....

Win98.

They are default. Default meaning if the creator put some random entries in, they are there. nothing has been altered (I'm going back to basics on this one).

I followed ednecro's walkthrough and got stuck early on. And made a post about it on that thread. but now I'm just frustrated. Not angry mad frustrated, just... dead end.

I am wondering if there is a EqEMU for dummies thread somewhere? Almost every single one is based on a specific problem, or lists instructions on what to use. Well, I don't know how to use them. That's my problem. If the only thing is I don't get to use them, fine, I can live with that and scrap my attempts.

But I am seriously in the dark and lost as to what to do. I made an "eq" database in MySQL, and MySQL has my machine's hostname and username and what not on it already entered (god I hope I remember my PW). The database is blank. The walk through said you needed to enter a command in DOS, did that, but then when prompted to use a file for source, I didn't have db.sql. And I do not know why. But that's where I got stuck.

So I am hoping someone has the time and plays mister niceguy and helps me out.

Just a simple tutorial type thing. I don't need to know WHY they work, just that they do. When someone says to use this or that in this way, I do not really understand what is meant. I can follow directions, but not the directions that are used on a higher level of knowledge than what I'm at.

My needs are as follows...

I want to be able to play a character on EqEMU without starting over. I want to be able to check out the #commands and do some fun stuff. Just basically play. Find things out. Learn.

I do have at my disposal...

MySQL
FQadmin
Addon 3.9
Emu 3.9
Mageloplayer
Mageloplayersource
Admintools (I'm sure it's that other one lsited, but I'm rechecking as I type)
Minilogin
.

I CAN get into the game, that's not a problem. I just want to know how to tweak things around a bit. I do not want to play a lvl 1 character. I did that awhiles ago on Live. Looking to avoid that.

If help is given, thanks in advanced.

I don't know what to tell you, the Readme, and eqnecro's walkthru are pretty basic instructions. We can't really try to simplify things if you don't say what you don't understand. List which one your trying to follow, and quote what is confusing you.

You say you can get into the game? Sounds like it is installed and working... DB is blank, guessing you didn't install the DB Addon, see the readme from the addon.

Did that. I listed it on my other post about how I moved all the files and ran the appropriate .exe's.

But the addon won't load so the Database is still blank.

I just don't know how to use anything to get it running. Logging in isn't the problem. Logging in as something other than a basic starting lvl 1 with no "permissions", is.

did you world.exe flag user 200 to the username your useing, also did you make sure you created the db called eq (or eq36 as some are using) before you sourced the files?

Soupism:
You have stated you don't know how to use some of the programs/commands involved. I can't be sure what you are actully doing, thus I can't help you if you give general statments as to what you tried. At this point I would suggest starting from scratch, follow either the readme, or eqnecros post exactly. Then post here when you have trouble, quoting the instructions you are having trouble with. And if you had any errors before that that you figured out, with what you did to fix it.
