How are you going to managing a server if you can't even get it to work with all the files?
If you can not get a server setup and running then why don't you just play eq on the other servers setup and running?

First you'll have to setup an LonginServer account Here http://www.eqemulator.org/forums/profile.php?do=loginserver

Follow the guides step by step, you definitely are not following the guides.

You either do not have MySQL installed, wrong version or maybe your VS.Net does not know the path to your headers.

VS.Net does not know the path to your headers that is one of the problems
• Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition and set it up
• Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition. You can find links to this software at the bottom of this document, or just by googling it.

• 'Tools/Options/Projects and Solutions/VC+(+) directories' and add the following directories using the dropdown "Show directories for" box:
• Include files: C:\mysql\include
• Include files: C:\perl\lib\CORE
• Include files: C:\zlib\include

I figured out my problem, maybe this will help others.

Secrets pointed out

"Just as a forewarning, perl 5.14 only will work under 64-bit compiles linked with 64-bit perl. I haven't figured out the issue with activeperl and 32-bit yet.

Keep that in mind when making a Perl 5.14 compile."

http://www.eqemulator.org/forums/sho...hlight=perl510

I switched MySQL to an x64 build and Perl 5.14 to an x64 build
Also, updated the VC++ Directories to *remove* any reference to ZLib
Deleted my ZLib folder (NOT the one in the EMU Source)

and viola! it compiled and runs!

Haven't had a chance to log in yet, but I've gotten that far at least!

I thank you need to keep 32 bit mysql software follow the post above to help you out.

your main problem for not getting it work the first time was this if you want to use 32 bit your choice.

• 'Tools/Options/Projects and Solutions/VC+(+) directories' and add the following directories using the dropdown "Show directories for" box:
• Include files: C:\mysql\include
• Include files: C:\perl\lib\CORE
• Include files: C:\zlib\include
• Library files: C:\mysql\lib\opt
• Library files: C:\perl\lib\CORE
• Library files: C:\zlib\lib
and all of these extensons have been properly set up.

you got mail from me read and enjoy and your welcome.

if your going to use vs 2008 you can install all 32 bit softwear your only problem was
'Tools/Options/Projects and Solutions/VC+(+) directories' and add the following directories using the dropdown "Show directories for" box:
• Include files: C:\mysql\include
• Include files: C:\perl\lib\CORE
• Include files: C:\zlib\include
• Library files: C:\mysql\lib\opt
• Library files: C:\perl\lib\CORE
• Library files: C:\zlib\lib
and all of these extensons have been properly set up.
I haven't setup a server on a 64 bit system yet but with working with hot and voa i think it needs to see a server address other then the main client computer. i do have a 64bit windows 7 computer haven't setup a server on it yet. sounds like your missing some steps in guild don't skip them. did you follow the post link and read what they posted about 64bit? also might change your Release Win64 not 32 if using 64 bit perl if using 32bit perl set to win32.

Go write down all the instructions in the complete setup January 2011 post.
Then modify them for the current versions.
Use perl 5.12 and all 32 bit stuff. with VS2008 C++ Express.
Use the note that have been copy pasted from places you should have already read and "fix" the problems.

don't skip a step like you have obviously done already.

That post works 100%

Do not use VS 2010 C++ Express and 64-bit. more than one has been made saying it won't work.

• Library files: C:\perl\lib\ and use • Include files: C:\perl\lib\ it's looking for mysql.dll file too.
