I just set up a virtual machine using the guide http://proskeptic.com/wordpress/?p=5 that I found linked here. For the most part it seems like an excellent guide except that once I try to log in I do get to the server screen where I see a server called "ship_in_a_bottle". I try to log onto it I get kicked back to login. when I try again I get a message saying "Error 1017: Cannot login to the Everquest server. you may need to rerun the update patch. Repeatedly seeing this message may indicate a loss of connectivity to the patch server. this is usually temporary."
Being completely new to this I have no idea where to start looking for problems. I checked to make sure everything was pointed correctly in the eqhost.txt but other than that I am clueless.
