NOTE: Please keep in mind the level cap is enforced on an Alpha Phase to keep everything balanced and I will be raising the cap as I add content. The characters you create are permanent so you can get serious about them and just grow with the content updates and level changes.

I actually have time to test the server a bit right now. I need people to get on the server lobby and please tell me if they can see Varlyndria up on the list. Thank you for your help. I have it up right now so try to log on and get a character going if you do see it. Whether or not the server will be stable enough for a lot of play tonight I don't know but it's worth trying.

If my server does not appear on the list please tell me.

I'm doing some testing to make sure the server is ready for the 1st. Thank you for the feedback, I'm working on getting everything fixed so keep trying once in a while. Also, please post on here any errors you're getting with detail.

Okay, thank you. I seem to be having some trouble with the IP/Port Forwarding and I'm trying to correct it. Thanks for being patient and helping with the matter by trying to connect.

Hello everybody,

I am back on my comcast router and I found the port RANGED forwarding successfully and added/saved them with ease. The Qwest modem seems to be a bit more complicated because for some reason the Port Forwarding and Advanced Port Forwarding are one and the same or hidden or something. It's extremely goofy.

Go ahead and try to connect to Varlyndria now. *crosses fingers*

Is it on a Windows OS? Clear your ports for your zone processes and world (9000, 7000-7500). Make sure that your port forwarding is forwarding those ports to the inside address on your router/modem.

For example if your server is on 192.168.1.x - 192.168.1.45

Your port forwarding needs to translate to that inside address for those ports.

Make sense?

When I said clear your ports I meant on the firewall sorry. As far as the port forwarding which is different, you need those ports on your router to get forwarded to the inside addresses that is running the server (Assuming your server is running behind the router). Your router is running NAT translations so that you can perform internet tasks through the one public IP address through your router. When a packet gets sent inbound for 9000, it needs to know where to go and by specifying which IP address at the router in which that packet needs to forward is what you need to do.

So say your router is 64.89.65.34 (Just an example)

Inside server address is 192.168.34.34

Your port forwarding needs to look like this

192.168.34.34 9000
192.168.34.34 7000-7500

Your Windows machine needs to also have those ports opened up on the firewall or it is going to explicitly deny all traffic coming inbound for those ports.

So to answer your other question, yes, you need to use the IP address that is specified by doing ipconfig at the CMD prompt.

The Alpha is officially underway and over 150 accounts have already signed up on Varlyndria! Get on and experience this unique first Alpha for yourself!
So far the community is a bunch of great people and the exp is not super fast either giving players a feel of accomplishment! Choose between 48 sub class paths from swarming animals and scarabs, lightning sword rangers, dark empowered necromancers, monks who can throw ninja stars and actually kill you, warriors who are better with a shield and can bash thier enemy into oblivion and much much more! Every class has something special they can be. :grin:

Why are people so against bots? I played on Last World for a year and never had any problems with them. I thought they were fun.

I personally have no issues with bots and see them as a great addittion to any server espically on new servers just starting out since most don't have the population to support not having them.
Now if you server had a large enough player base on at all time's of the day/night or specially designed to be soloable then sure not having them would be fine.

Now back on topic i look forward to giving your server a try once i get some free time and good luck to you so far it look's like your off to a good start.

without mobs , it would take 10x as long as to kill mobs , already with bots the xp is slow + long fights

I apologize about the current bugs on the server and are working very hard on eliminating them. Thank you for all of your testing because it's going to make Varlyndria into a better server over time.

The next update for Varlyndria will hopefully be in a week or two and it's going to feature an event that should bring players together and weapon quests for all of the paths that will expand and balance everything even more than now. The level cap will also raise to 25 in this update. Thank you once again for your patience, testing and help with the server.

Drak, I love my class/specialization, and I love the server, but I don't love how long it takes to level up :( any chance this will be tweaked over the next couple of updates?

There is nothing wrong with the delay in leveling up. If you want faster go elsewhere or make your own.

Just because you cannot reach lvl 20 within 30 mins or even a few hours does not mean anything is wrong.

With LotD running I got to level 12 in 4 hours. That is pretty fast if you think about it. Plus Drak is putting in custom quests items and classes. Why would you want to fly through all of that? The leveling speed is ment to be slower so you can enjoy the game. Also, this is ALPHA stage, not even BETA. But, as far as I know, Drak is keeping the exp where it is. Do not go anywhere else, stay on Varlyndria but just enjoy the game and become part of our GROWING community :D

Swarmer pet paths have received an update and less mobs are summoned now
to save on server lag. In return these special pets have been buffed and
changed. All swarmer pets are now considered level 10 but have different
variations.

Brigand's Thugs Tier 1:
Summon per click 2, Class: Rogue, Damage 11-33 + Backstab, HP 60

Earthguard's Animal Tier 1:
Summon per click 1, Class: Ranger, Damage 22-66 +Kick/Bash/Spells, HP 120

I didn't want to give players a free charm, I wanted them to work for it a bit. The drop rate is 5% on all Tier 1 enemies. The Exp is currently not planned to change but as the level cap raises I'll see how players feel.

One thing I noticed with the bots. My tank bot wasn't holding aggro and my cleric was getting it all. Then I discovered #bot taunt on and it works good now. You do have to use the command every time you zone.

The Monk headband quests has been revamped and are active
for all races. You can get these quests in the Varlyndrian

ONLINE CHANGES - 05/11/12

I Have began adding new code to the path npcs which will prevent players from choosing more than one path now as originally intended. Players can turn their charms into the new Path Changer NPC in the guild lobby to unlock the ability to become something different within their guild. I have the warriors done right now and should have the rest of the classes done in a couple days.

Please keen in mind I will be doing a final purge of charms on bots to finally get the server balanced where it needs to be. With this change I feel the experience could be toned up a bit now so I will probably up it a couple notches.

The server will be coming down at 05/14/12 - 12:00pm MST. The estimated downtime is 2 hours.

NOTE TO ALL PLAYERS: Bots will be purged of all charms while the server is down tomorrow. I have added code to all NPC paths which finally brings Varlyndria to the balance I originally intended. Players can no longer get more than one charm and the only way they can change paths is by turning their current charm into the new PATH CHANGER npc located in the Guild Lobby.

Varlyndrian Herald: One of the Norrathians swear they saw the shadow of a huge

more players in one zone and raids will be possible with bots, swarm classes

Bots are back to normal and group buff, cap at 5 and have extremely fast mana regen.

SMALL UPDATE 05/16/12


Resistance bonuses for being higher level that the caster have changed in the casters
favor. The target will no longer gain 5% per level higher than the caster but instead now
gain 2%. This will allow a level 25 caster going against a level 45 enemy almost a 50% chance
to land their attacks instead of 100% resists as before.

Pets no longer steal exp of any kind.

Conjurer's weapons no longer have a proc and their staff is now nodrop/magician
only and has changed from a proc to a clicky effect. The clicky is the old proc
spell. The weapon models have been nerfed for tradable items. This change was to
bring Conjurer's into their own realm instead of being used as bot suppliers only.
Conjurer's can still supply bots and other players with nice stat weapons but the
day of 5 berserker bots with conjured proc weapons is over.

Conjurer's can also summon a nice 1 handed sword now too. (as per request)

Diablo The Lord Of Terror and Gorbatroth the Crusher have had their health
nerfed by 60% because of the new changes to conjured weapons.

Clerics now gain a large amount of fire spells from the wizard class. The spells
gained are 2 levels higher than when wizards gain them. This change is to help the
Heretic dps path actually do something besides watch their pet fight.

I have a forums on my site. (I update both) Players who might not have liked a certain feature of Varlyndria can read updates here to come back to it. Plus there is nothing wrong with updating my game threads with info players might want to read. This gets more people to my personal forums and lets everybody know the server even exists. Calling it spam is rather insulting.

The vote is over. 2 boxing will be enforced and I am sorry for all the trouble and if this seems unfair.


I've made my mind up. I can't allow players to have that kind of power solo. It defeats the entire purpose of a raid (multiple people fighting together) and allows players to solo raids.. I just can't allow this anymore and its hurting the server. IPs will become 2 max and this will never change.


Thanks for the small pole but ultimately I have to balance the server and allowing that power is not a good thing. I apologize to anybody who feels this sucks or is unfair but giving you the ability to have your entire own raid is eliminating the entire point of raiding with friends and guilds and ultimately crushes the aspect of players working together.


The change will take effect immediately.

I feel the 2 box rule cheats players who were using the original 3 box rule since the birth of the server. I will be putting it back to 3 and it will stay 3. This will also help FAMILIES who want to play on the server a lot more than 2. Sorry for mix up and bullshit. What's not broken doesn't need to be fixed. With this said: Do not ask me for personal favors on changing these rules.

All Thurgadin Velious Armor has been improved in stats.

Most custom items no longer share a cooldown with other cooldowns.
This should fix a good deal of charms or items that seem broken.

All charms now have Rank 1 at the end of them. This is to show
players it's the first charm and you'll be able to upgrade them
in a later update.

Warchanters have a new animation on their charm's proc.
__________________________________________________ ______________
Terrorizers now have their fear/snare as a recourse on their
charm spell. This allows them to toss the dot on bosses or other
creatures that are immune to these effects. In addition, the
spell now deals instant damage along with its dot ticks.

Cryomancers now have their snare effect as a recourse on their
charm spell. This allows them to hit bosses or other
creatures with thier ice nuke even if they are immune to the
snare. This also allows the spell to critical strike, making
the path a lot stronger. The damage of the spell has also been
increased to 475 at level 20 up from 415. This gets it 25
points away from the Pyromancer spell.

their weight reduced from 8.5 to 0.1.

Sage's Robe - now has a 5 second cast time clicky instead of 28.

There is a new NPC which teaches players their skills in the guild
lobby. Special thanks to Xiao for the work on this.

Several clicky recasts have been adjusted and should hopefully work
as the following: Tier 1 charms, Summoned Items, and Boss Items are
now on their own seperate timers. This means a clicky from a boss
item will effect the other boss clicky but not the tier 1 charm or
summon item cast.

Diablo has moved to Lavastorm Mountains next to Najena.

Watertorn items that produce Clarity and Enduring breath no longer
have a 30 second recast and are now instant.

Velious gems are now NO DROP and can't be resold to a merchant.
However, a player may still purchase or win them from the casino.

Magician: Magical Bag Of The Conjurer Rank 1 is now a 5 minute recast

Barison's Dagger and Diablo's Dagger Of Hellfire now have double the backstab they
used to before.

Paladins and Shadowknights now have Touch Of Death and Touch Of Life in their
spell books. These spells can be used every 5 minutes and gain level+1 x50
damage/healing These are excellent alternatives to the harmtouch/lay on hands and
can be used much more often.

Path charm spells are now almost impossible to resist.
__________________________________________________ ________________________________
The Terrorizer charm now has a 100% snare as well as its damage over time, but the
fear effect has been removed. (there will be a quick optional use fear clicky on
their sword in update 1.0) The spell is now called Curse Of Crippling Torment
Rank 1. This spell can be used on custom bosses with no problems.

The Cryomancer charm has been changed. It is now usable every 6 seconds down from
15 but the snare has been nerfed to 50% and the damage can never critical hit. This
still lets them do very close to the damage of a pyromancer and still reign as the
kiting wizard gods of Varlyndria.

Wildheart's Groves Serenity spell now heals for 40 a tick regen for 30 minutes at
level 20 instead of 20 points.

Sharphin has changed his strategy a bit and now drops a couple new weapons!
He can be found residing somewhere in Lake Rathetear.

Kael Drakkel can now be instanced! Thurg armor grinders rejoice! Talk to the Varlyndrian Timewarper at the entrance to Kael Drakkel (eastern wastes side) for a trip into the place. Special thanks to Xiao for all his hard work on this.

Sharphin spawns in the Lake Of Ill Omen as well as

Watertorn Ring Of The Dark Sea now grants +25% Spell Haste instead of Spell Damage.

Diviners have gained a new healing spell on their charm called Divine Health Rank 1.
It heals a target for 400 base at level 20 and removes 5 poison and disease counters.

Pyromancers, Cryomancers and Timeweavers have had their spell charm damage
increased by 50%. This change was to help wizards keep up with melee and
pet classes dps.

Distortionists can now charm an enemy for 15 minutes straight. Up from 2.

Mind Flayers do more damage with 1hb, pierce and 2hb weapons now and should no longer
cause as much agro as they have been with their proc.

Soulreapers pet proc is much harder to resist and their damage bonus to spells has

Druids have gained a new spell at level 6 called Deadly Insect Swarm. This spell is

Shamans gain companion spirits 28 levels lower than before. Rangers also gain these
spirits at 2 levels higher than the shaman.

Shaman: Companion Spirit level 4 Ranger: Companion Spirit level 6.

Adventurer's Wristbands Of Power are now Adventurer's Bracers Of Power (look like plate)
but their stats have decreased a bit. The price has gone down on them as well.
