Hi all, I've been trying to get Eqemulator to work for the past 12 hours or so and have ended up banging my head against a wall. First,
I installed the titanium client and followed the setup instructions, and am running windows 7 32-bit. I have a dual-core CPU and have tried all the guidance in the stickied thread to fix dual-core issues. The problems I keep having are a combination of several different problems discussed on the FAQ (http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=EQEmuFAQ). The thing that's puzzling me is that they seem to be occurring inconsistently, regardless of what troubleshooting steps I try.
The first error is when I try to log in to the server select screen, about 50% of the time it will time out. If I manage to get through, there's yet another 50/50 chance that it will go through but no servers will show up. If the servers do manage to show up and I select one, about 90% of the time it just goes to a black screen then goes back to the login screen about 2 minutes later. If by some miracle of god I manage to actually get in to the character select screen or the world, I often crash when zoning and if I don't, the lag is unplayable (~1,000ms).
I realize this is a laundry list of problems, but I would appreciate any help. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps I can find on the forums. I've gone through the dual-core FAQ, I've double, triple, and quintuple checked that eqhost is configured properly. I have added an exception to windows firewall for Everquest, and have tried completely disabling the firewall. I have tinkered around with resolution settings and running everquest in compatability mode, and this hasn't done me much good either (although running windowed at 800x600, I seem to have a decent chance of getting through to the character select screen. Although, trying to actually play at 800x600 is far from ideal).
Finally, I have tried to install wineq2 in the hopes that would help fix some of my issues. I am unable to run the initial patch for wineq without it freezing up midway. Currently, I've posted a thread to the lavishsoft forums and am awaiting reply on that issue (http://www.lavishsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5146).
I am really looking forward to being able to relive my Nostalgia for this game, but I'm having a hell of a time doing it. I'm sorry if there is any information I left out, please let me know and I'll provide it. Thanks for any help anyone can offer!
Edit: Also, I have tried reinstalling titanium to a directory other than program files. Still no luck.
