I have downloaded eq titanium, followed all the instructions for setting up eqemu, however, when I click my eqgame application nothing happens. It doesn't even go to the login server...I dont know what to do to fix it.

Well what is supposed to happen, is I click eqgame, then it launches the window, I accept the terms.....click through the screens with sony, etc, and then it goes to the login screen. But what is happening is that nothing happens at all after I click eqgame. It looks like it wants to open but doesnt.

How are you running the game?
Did you make a shortcut on your desktop and append patchme to the end of the target?

DFTIV

Yes, I did everything the directions said.

Do you have everything that Everquest requires to run? (DirectX 9 for instance)

What operating system are you using?
If on Windows, have you disabled UAC?
If not, try running as administrator.

DFTIV

hmm that might be the problem. I dont think I have direct x9. I will try that.

Vexyl
06-07-2012, 11:04 PM
It would probably give you an error if you were missing a DX9 component, but it doesn't hurt to try.

DFTIV
06-07-2012, 11:06 PM
Right, I am not getting any errors. But yeah I will try. Should it be direct x9 or does it matter if it's a newer version?

Vexyl

This would do: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35, although you most likely already have the components installed.

Edit: Make sure your video card driver is up-to-date.

DFTIV
06-07-2012, 11:10 PM
ok how do I check that?

Vexyl
06-07-2012, 11:12 PM
Find out what card you have and download the latest driver from the company's (nvidia, amd, etc) website.

DFTIV
06-07-2012, 11:13 PM
yeah I already had direct x installed.

When you run EQ, is it listed in the task manager?
I don't know what guide you are referring to, but have you patched at all?

DFTIV
06-07-2012, 11:18 PM
The getting started guides on here and on the p99 site. I did download and use their emulauncher first. It was not working, so now I am trying to get it to work the old way.

Vexyl

Do you have anti-virus software installed? It's starting to sound like an AV attempt to passively block the program from running.

DFTIV
06-07-2012, 11:20 PM
No it's not in the task manager, I get an hour glass icon and then nothing,

DFTIV
06-07-2012, 11:21 PM
yes, but I turned it off and it still doesn't work. Should I of had it off when I was downloading eq titanium and installing it?

Vexyl
06-07-2012, 11:23 PM
No, it seems like it didn't interfere with either of those. Just make sure that it's not blocking the game from running.

DFTIV
06-07-2012, 11:24 PM
Yeah, Like I said it's off right now, so it can't do anything

Vexyl

It could be the case that it's trying to start with an unsupported resolution.
Open up eqclient.ini in your Everquest directory and add the following commonly supported options:

under [Defaults]

WindowedMode=TRUE

under [VideoMode]

Width=1024
Height=768
WindowedWidth=1024
WindowedHeight=768
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
FullscreenRefreshRate=60

DFTIV

Ok, my eqclient looks like this currently,

[Defaults]
Sound=TRUE

Also, I am wondering now if it might now be something with the video card driver, it's an ATI Radeon 3100 on a Toshiba labtop. I just read about various problems with these, not sure though, since this computer did run eqemu just fine when I first bought it.

Vexyl

Alright, so edit eqclient.ini to include what I've listed in my previous post and then try launching the game again.

ATI Radeon 3100 for laptops
Windows 7 32-bit: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-32.aspx
Windows 7 64-bit: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx

Choose the link appropiate to your version of Windows.

If not Windows 7:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Edit: If [VideoMode] is missing then add it.

[Defaults]
Sound=TRUE
WindowedMode=TRUE

[VideoMode]
Width=1024
Height=768
WindowedWidth=1024
WindowedHeight=768
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
FullscreenRefreshRate=60

DFTIV

So I should add the WindowedMode=TRUE above the sound true or replace it? and then add the whole other section including [VideoMode]

DFTIV

Awesome doing it now.

Vexyl

You may want to try getting that driver directly from Toshiba's website:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp

Click Downloads and input the information for your laptop.

Ok I am going to try to download the driver now. The last thing didnt work either. Just to make sure, I am supposed to add the patchme to eqgame app, not EverQuest?

Vexyl
06-08-2012, 12:07 AM
Right, you are supposed to make a shortcut to eqgame.exe and add patchme as a command-line argument.
In Windows you would do this by right clicking the shortcut and going to properties and appending patchme to the target path.

DFTIV
06-08-2012, 12:08 AM
Right, that is exactly what I did. Just wanted to make sure.

Vexyl

If nothing works maybe you should try reinstalling from the EQ Titanium CD's without using the eqemu launcher that you mentioned earlier.

DFTIV
06-08-2012, 12:13 AM
Yeah, that is what I am going to try now, since the driver did not work. Is it possible i got a bad torrent when downloading the cds?

Vexyl

Yeah, that is what I am going to try now, since the driver did not work. Is it possible i got a bad torrent when downloading the cds?

It's definitely a possibility since you have no control over what the uploader has done to the files before uploading.

And with that I must inform you that pirated copies of Everquest are not supported on these forums.

ok thanks for the help. that was more of a hypothetical
