View Full Version : Eqgame.exe Application Error

Whenever I try to launch EQ through the emulauncher (or really, any other launcher for that matter) I get "Eqgame.exe - application error ; The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application."

I was able to play this game perfectly fine a couple of months ago, but have been completely unable to log on since then. I haven't changed anything in terms of computer specs.

I have also seen many of the "fixes" and tried them, such as: going into eqclient.ini and changing the parameters etc etc~ But literally NOTHING is fixing this.

I have also checked the event log for whats causing the issue, and its saying that there is a faulty module for CRYPTBASE.dll, which I have no idea of its nature or purpose.

In either case, if anyone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it, since I am feeling nostalgic and am hoping to play some EQ before EQN rolls around.

If you need additional details, just ask me, I'll be checking often.

If you would like to suggest a fix that is easily found, I'll give it a try (again) to see if it works.

Thanks again, and sorry for the troubles.

tried reinstalling the client from the install media?

What exactly? I've reinstalled both the launcher (eqemulator) as well as the EQ client itself. No patch of course.

try deleting all the .ini files from your client root that have character names in the title

Mmm...could you give an example? Only .ini files I know are the eqclient.ini ones =P

More often than not that error is the result of the game being installed in the %Program Files or %Program Files (x86) on a Vista or Windows 7. This is usually only a problem when UAC is turned on which happens to be the default setting. Solution...move the Everquest directory to your base C:\ or disable UAC. The first option is usually better for the normal user.

If the previous suggestion did not work then check your resolution as Everquest does not always play well with widescreen settings.

I have moved the Everquests folders and everything else into the C drive (as opposed to the programsx84) and it still is showing the same error.

Fixed it with a full reformat. Sorry to players who have same problem, but looking for a better solution.

Having a new issue with the modified Dsetup.dll lol. Sigh.
