EDIT:
After searching again, not only on the forums but google, I found tons of post. Keywords...my friends, keywords.

Hey all!

So I've been teaching myself Unreal Development Kit and finally have learned the grid system, proper math for layouts of walls, buildings, etc and even made a mini dungeon. Now I'd like to try my best to remake a EverQuest zone in Unreal but using the textures they already have in place for buildings and such. I want to stay faithful to the original why also using the power Unreal can offer in terms of lighting and other factors.

Does anyone know of a way of doing this? I know people have replaced textures and I did do a google search and couldn't find much. Maybe I'm not searching the right words.

I believe there's some stuff off my site that may help.
You may want to try S3Dspy and EqModel Viewer and Zone Converter.

I have done this years ago, and it worked fine.

Hey GeorgeS I actually found your old post and grabbed your tools.

My problem now is this, I exported the zone 100% flawless. Minus textures because as painful as it will be, I'll reapply them in Unreal to take advantage of the tools they provide me. But when I import the .fbx file, it crashes Unreal.

I know Sak imported in the engine he uses, is there another way to use the zone file in another engine?

In those days I exported the zone as a .obj into 3DSMax and then textured it there. That's the only way I know of. You can ask Pixelengineer if he knows because he is making his own client, and has that part done.

I just shot him a PM, thank you for your help as well.

Sadly, I'm still crashing Unreal Editor. I may possibly try Unity3D to see if that produces different results. I know Unreal is quite picky with the way it handles content.
