Server is based on Peq and modified from there to suit need. I suggest the use of the underfoot client for this server other clients will work but design will be done from the underfoot client. Many changes have been made to make the server solo able. The main zone and starting zone is the plane of knowledge allowing players to move around the world easily. Several npc's have been modified in pok like 1 of every guild master was moved to the bank and several other npcs where also moved there a custom vender a soul binder a buff bot a skill setter ect. each player is given a huge bag of plat for starting cash along with there normal start items. all pets have had there regent requirements removed for convenience. many items have been and continue to be modified and or fixed to work properly and or better. database backups are done regularly after updates have been checked to be working properly. many features are still in the works only time will tell my ability's are formidable including database management programming graphics design the list continues all the skills required to run a server.

the bot feature was finally fixed it seems to be working but Ive noticed a lot pf zone crashing. so im disabling bots for a couple of days to see if there to blame. if there to blame they will remain disabled for stability resins. many other issues have also been corrected so far most problems Ive been made aware of have been resolved.

Server hardware upgrade move to today due to delivery issues. bots have been enabled again as zone crashing still happen with them disabled. server logs have been enabled to further investigate zone crashing. several issues resolved from found errors in logs.

Server hardware installation complete system is running cold now stable 25C with all 4 cores enabled as compared to stock cooling based 40C with only 2 cores enabled and over 55C with all 4 enabled triggering the main board to auto power off at 55C. its also super super quiet the fan is running at 500rpms compared to 5000rpms with stock that was not even cooling it enough.

I've personally been following it. Some seem to be a bit too aggressive on here. Need to welcome and encourage others, not be unkind. Least that's my opinion on how to protect and grow the EQ community.

My daily ritual is this site > new posts link, fb, reddit and gmail every morning. I like seeing all of the progress as well as servers coming, and sadly going just as fast. I've recently created my own server so I can start messing with things and hopefully help others when they ask questions about changing db stuff.

some update notes
many items have been tweaked or fixed.
bots have been re-enabled and tested working.
several custom npcs have been updated.
#peqzone command has been enabled for all.
a few characters found to be erroring out the server have been removed (players effected may request to be relvled as compensation).
guilds have been tested and are working several have begun to take shape.
if you find something that needs to be fixed let me know ill add it to the list.

you can create 10 total and you can spawn 5 at one time.

Zone integrity check completed 500 zones checked 48 where locked due to complications 452 available and verified to be working.

Side notes:
very few zone crash's have occurred in the past few days about 1 per day. i would like it to be 0 crash's the investigation continues.

Change log:

50 Npcs Relocated For Easy Access.

Max level limited to 80 due to AA problem crashing zones over lvl80
effected toons will allways fail to login and crash the zone there
trying to login to the only fix is to delete the toon.

Fixed several miss placed mobs.

Started to add money drops to more mobs.

I have been following your posts on the forums and and very interested in testing your server out. But i am having issue's loading up. cannot even get to the char select screen.

if you could provide some more info so i can check in to the issue your login name would allow me to check logs ect for problems. what version of client are you connecting with. maybe even your ip address but i would suggest sending this information by private message not posting it on the forum.

change log:
max level reduced to 75 due to zone crashing issue linked to invalid high level AA's the 6 players that where lvl80 where reduced to 75.

all bots over 75 where also reduced to 75.

possible connection issue resolved.

other notes:
pending hardware upgrade doubling server ram in the next few days as soon as the package arrives.
server will then have the capacity to boot 255 dynamic zones this being the max amount as limited by the byte size table.

255 dynamic zones is pointless, unless of course you have 255 people in 255 different zones.......which is unlikely, boot static, it'll allow the players to load faster and prevent camping to abuse spawns.

take note of the wording server has the capacity to do so i never mentioned anything about doing it. as Ive calculated that with the given bandwidth only 100~ players could possibly connect to the server at once having more then 100 would simply be redundant. the server performs many other tasks besides this little side project that runs invisible in the background. i have verified the server to have 452 functional zones if the servers soul purpose was for eqemu i would static boot all 452.

I suggest using the underfoot client as this is the client i work from so changes made are based on how my client responds.

Where to start on this...

Ive gotten reports of account based issues logging in to the server several players have reported they can login with 1 account but not another. it seems to be a problem with the eqemu public login system not the server it self.

No, its your own fault. Based on the batch you posted:


Echo Starting Server
start /B minilogin.exe
start /B world.exe
start /B eqlaunch.exe zone

Just because you have a conf file doesn't mean its supported. Maybe Noport is developing for you though.

That's a quick way to get blacklisted as thats not legal in any sense you would do it.

its a good thing they haven't passed that anti troll law yet. apparently posting in the server category under my own servers listing is spam. I must have missed the part where i held a gun to your head and made you read every word in my thread. i wish i had the time to sift thru garbage and twist it around to make someone i don't even know look bad guess having a real job so i have something to do during the day time is more then others can say. its not my mission to attack others for fun online to fuel my own self esteem. nothing but clandestine malcontents with nothing better to do.

I'd made a couple toons on yer server, leveled one to 70+, the other is @ 55, logged in to work on some AA's on my 70-something ranger, and the toon had been deleted by someone * other * than me...and you complain about not having a player base...* hmmm...wonder why that could be...*:rolleyes:

( oh..and players can't even zone into the GL, to keep their buffs from winding down...and we're supposed to * buy * them off a bot? )

several toons had become irreparably damaged and where removed as it was the only option anyone would have. the damaged toons would crash zones at every login and never be able to login normally. and the only zone in the game that is set to keep buffs is plane of knowledge and its also where players are returned to after a set time logged out. anyone can zone in to any zone i have not locked down with #peqzone 48 of 500 zones where locked down.

...w/e...I tried to use #peq & #tgc, both commands generated a message that they weren't recognised by the server...the GH is on the other side of the GL, which makes it a moot point if guilds are working but you can't get to the GH...which is where i tried to #peq / #tgc to get to...and if my ranger would crash zones and not be able to log in..how the heck did i get her to 70 +...:rolleyes:

both zone check out the guildhall and guildlobby are working and they check out thru #peqzone command.

as far as bugged characters go any character that leveled over 75 during the problem would result in a permanently broken character the problem has sense been resolved. a total of 6 players where effected all they needed to do was ask to be releveled with a fresh working toon. the problem would not start the moment the toon reached lvl75+ it would start when they logged out and attempted to relogin. i personally destroyed 37 of my own characters in the testing process to resolve the problem. i would also note you can also zone in to the guild lobby/hall from plane of knowledge normally by clicking the door.

max level cap is now 90.
tested max cap 90 for bugs and resolved them.

client inconsistency is resulting in crashing problems its the lesser of 2 evils.
so leaving multi client support where people crash zones constantly angering everyone playing or limiting login's to 1 client the one i use to develop the server from. so my client will exhibit the same problems as everyone else's so that i can track down and fix the problem. ive resolved many crash issues ive discovered from underfoot and everything runs smooth from underfoot for me. i really don't plan to install every client and test each one for constancy. on the other hand i do have a copy of titanium so i may test titanium and enable that one as well.

Ive started testing titanium client support.

I have done some testing with titanium and sod clients and have concluded that underfoot will be only client supported by the abyss.
I have based this choice on many factors like consistency/ stability/ overall game play/ fairness between 2 versions underfoot players tend to be more powerful then the other 2 due to client limits/ Underfoot tends to run better then the other 2 clients far less little hang ups and better features/ Ect.
Exp rates have been adjusted to 1.0 to be exact.
Starting items have been adjusted the free charm has been removed you can still buy them from the vendor and the free bag of plat has been reduced.
Lootable table adjustments are underway 0min drop all / 0avg drop / adjusted higher max drop possibility.
I do accept content change suggestions in game so send a tell not to say every suggestion will be taken and used.

So the servers been running way more stable 2 zone crash's in a week not that big a deal. up till now Ive spent a large portion of time just trying to stop the zone crashing problems it seems to be under control and manageable now. so i ask the players that have axially played on my server what should i focus on next what do you feel is most important to game play value that needs to be worked on.

client inconsistency was causing crashing things not matching up server side and there was 52 zones i closed permanently as they crash any time someone would enter them. energetic atunment AA was also a problem when you would buy rank 13 it would crash the zone so it was limited to rank 12. several database inconsistency where also corrected faulty items where causing crashing as well. plugin inconsistency where another issue where things would not match up. zone crashing still happens very now and then it is an on going investigation but i feel it is under control in a manageable state.
