love the desktop background :P

have you checked your eqhost.txt file?

it should look like:

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5999

Thats if your using the SoD+ clients i believe, if your using titanium change the port from 5999 to 5998 (its been a while but i believe that is still the case).

I know that admin settings can be a PITA with EQ for editing the host files so its possible that your windows security is blocking editing, i personally kept all that stuff turned off, but im pretty sure if you move your eq folder outside of the "Program Files" folders into the C drive or really anywhere else, it wont yell at you RE admin mode and such.

Make sure there's a carriage return at the end of that line. If you're not using Titanium you want the port number to be 5999 as shown above.

carriage return? sorry, i'm kind of new at this type of stuff.

Go to the end of the line and press enter. There needs to be a blank line at the end of the file.

Well, a screen shot doesn't really show if there's a blank line at the end of the file, but there doesn't need to be one between the first and second lines.

The properties for your shortcut would be more useful to see.

Gotcha.

This is what i have, it pulled up "patching EQ" once (about five minutes ago) and then didn't do anything else but the connection error.

You need the shortcut to point to EQGame.exe, not EverQuest.exe. Maybe you're just running the wrong one since there looks like an eqgame one also on your desktop.

You will be much happier if you don't have the game under the Program Files directory. I'd move it elsewhere, like C:\EQ or something like that.

It's also possible that if you did actually manage to patch anything that you'll need to reinstall.
