I don't know if anyone has said anything about this (too lazy to check), but here goes. I got this from Verant/The Station like 4 months ago, but forgot about it until today. I just figured since some people don't have EQ but want to try the emulator, they might wanna do this. It's NOT illegal; THEY sent it to me. The links are still up, but I'm not sure if the installer will work all the way, but it's worth a try.

If it won't install w/o an account key, try this one:
M126WGTK04

That was the free subscription key, but you can't use that for a subscription anymore, so you guys can try it.

450mb Self-Extractor (ftp://eqftp.station.sony.com/eqfull.exe)

Series of 15 smaller files (ftp://eqftp.station.sony.com/eqfull.exe)

Good luck.

This was also mirrored (for anyone in Australia) by telstra, at:

http://games.telstra.com/gamearena/resources/files/?action=details&id=2761

For the record, anyone wanting a valid trial key can get it here:
http://my.ign.com/my/sb?uoaction=everquestKey

PS. Don't know how long it lasts for, or if its still valid, though when I checked last week, it still sent me an e-mail with a key :)

I'd deleted EQ from my computer ages ago because I wouldn't stop playing it, but I can do some EQEMU work now that I have the binaries :) Now just to figure out which database to start mooking around with...

Wouldn't it be neat if there was a version of EQEmu that talked to this version, since it's stable?

.... That's actually a really good idea .... A lot of features would be left behind probably forever, though.

No dice. I think they stopped giving out the free accounts a while ago.

The ign link, while working, does not generate keys anymore. At least not to hotmail addresses, which is all that I'm willing to use for this kind of thing.

So make a yahoo address, or better yet, make a sneakemail address.

www.sneakemail.com

it will forward to any email account...

Do remember, this is a 2 month old post. EQ does change in that time.

Yeah, it was a big deal way back when. It's odd that Sony isn't offering the free accounts any more though. There was some gaming mag in Sydney last month that offered a free trial disc.
