As soon as I enter the world, my packet loss % bar starts increasing until it reaches 100% and i prompted get disconnected
I'm hosting my own server and connecting to myself and don't seem to have any visable errors (maybe my computer isn't buff enough to handle hosting and playing?)
Changing my data rate to 10 didn't help at all and i can't think of anything else to try, read all the boards a few times over
OTHER PROBLEMS I"M HAVING (plz respond if ya might have a fix or know where the problem is):
1. world.exe says "maxclients=-1" right after i get booted
2. sleeping zone can't find "zonepoints" in db, when it gets woken up(could that be causing my LDs?) or is this not an issue?
Thanks

I have the same thing... lets me make character. But can't log them in. Here is the only info I can find... its from one of the zone windows.
Zone server 'sharvahl' listening on port:7996
-----------
2131160 New client from ip: 127.0.0.1 port: 1150
Login packet 1 (OP_SetDataRate = 10)
Login packet 2
Client dropped: GetAuthentication = 0, n=Thorin
Dropping client: Process=false, ip=127.0.0.1, port=1150
Automatic shutdown
Message:----SERVER SHUTDOWN----
Zone shutdown: going to sleep
ZoneID = 42
Reading zhdr file './cfg/neriakc.cfg'
Using database for safe coords.
Zone safe coords are x = -969; y = 892; z= -54

Zone server 'neriakc' listening on port:7996
-----------
2973770 New client from ip: 127.0.0.1 port: 1179
Login packet 1 (OP_SetDataRate = 8)
Client disconnected: No name
Dropping client: Process=false, ip=127.0.0.1, port=1179

Seems a little different than the problem that i'm having (I'm Lding once i GET IN, you can't even enter the world at all)
however, it's very possibily related....... i hope someone can shed some light on the problem(s)

Check your ISP. As cable isn't available in my area nor can I afford DSL, I use a free dial up isp (that I always used playin reg EQ and it worked fine.) and with that, within 15 seconds I'd get disconnected. I can't even sumbit a name cuz I get kicked. I logged on my friends AOL account and was able to make a char and enter the world, but within 30 secs I got disconnected within the world. All this happened a number of times, so I know now it's my ISPs for sure. Sooooo AOL disconnects after you're in the world, and my other isp wont even let me get that far. Sigh

I'm hosting and clienting on the same computer, but the goal (if i can get eq working) is to include friends via lan so isp isn't an issue, but if i was at home, i'm sure bandwidth would be a huge problem ;p
Thanks, any other thoughts anyone? I was wondering if maybe my computer just isn't buff enough to handle hosting and clienting at the same time - read a post that implied that it takes a lot of sys resources (will have to monitor it from now on)....

When I was going LD right upon spawning into the world, it's because my datarate was at 5.0
Try using 7.0 - 9.5
Somewhere along the line, it should be your datarates fault.
When I was not even making it into the zone at all, it was when I was connecting to my own server, and it was because I had localhost or 127.0.0.1 in my boot5zones.bat, whenever I needed my actual IP address in the bat file for the zones to load up my character.
So in boot5zones.bat, if you get the "boot back to server select screen" when trying to join your own server, dont just try using localhost and 127.0.0.1, but also use your real ip address.
