I am having an issue with getting servers to list. I log in just fine, everything seems to work fine, then no servers show up in the server list. The issue is only on one of my internet connections, when I fire up tethering on my phone, they show up just fine. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Toby
Edit:
Doesn't matter if I do it with my account or my wifes, it is the same.

Have you tried restarting your computer, I get this issue sometimes, I don't know why this happens, but it is randomly caused and randomly shows up.

Even though I have, it wouldn't make it work on one connection, and not on the other. I have also rebooted the modem on the connection that isn't working, ran an ethernet cable directly to my computer, tried it in windows and linux. It will not work on either computer that we play eq with on the "bad" connection. I am wondering if I locked my ip out some how on the server list server. If I had a way to change my ip on connection that doesn't work, I would do that.
Thanks for the suggestion, but already tried that, sorry for not supplying all the info I should have.

Have you tried opening a command prompt and running a ping to eqemulator.org? Not sure off hand if it blocks ICMP traffic, but it may so if you just get timeouts then I guess that won't help. Otherwise, if you do get responses, try an extended ping (using -t in windows) and see if you get frequent drops.
One thing that has resolved this issue in the past might be to try resetting your modem/router to factory defaults and then setting them up again. It doesn't happen on any of my recent linksys routers, but on my old one from like 5+ years ago I used to get an issue with NAT'd ports getting messed up and requiring a factory reset to fix. If you have any port range forwarding enabled on your router, you may be running into the same issue. If you don't use any port forwarding, then that shouldn't be a problem.
You might also try pointing your eqhost.txt file directly to 67.23.190.71 instead of eqemulator.org, because there could be a possible DNS issue with the ISP you are using.

Trevius thanks for taking the time to respond.
Ping is averaging around 110ms to eqemulator.org, .net and 67.23.190.71 (which I would hope should be around the same since they are all the same). No drops at all with ping. I ran a trace route and that seemed fine too with the max response of around 300ms at one hop (until it timed out at later connections).
I have not defaulted the modem yet, but will do that later tonight to try it. I can't get away with defaulting it and not be able to call support in case something messes up. (The wife will kill me if the internet is down =) ) I have a crappy netgear modem, and my ISP wont let me use my own dsl modem, so I am stuck with their garbage.
To add some more things that I have tried now:
I get a timeout (no servers showing up) on all 3 clients, Titanium, UF, and F2P Steam client.
If I VPN to another connection from either machine, it works just fine.
I also didn't mention this (my bad I thought I did). This has been working fine up until 2 days ago.
Again, I will default the modem tonight and see what that comes up with.

Got my modem defaulted, it didn't fix the problem.
Contacted the idiots at Frontier Communications (who is the only ISP I can get at my house besides tethering to my phone) to get my external IP changed.
They lied to me and told me that if I unplugged the modem for 5 min it would change the IP, it didn't. So I will call them again tonight to yell some more, I am pretty certain that there is something blocking my IP server side, like a firewall script or something, but who knows. I will keep updating this as I get things tried.
Anyone feel free to jump in and have me try something you think of and I will try it.

Last night I connected to my secondary connection ( my cell phone ).
I got logged in and played just fine.
My cell phone died while I was playing and my computer defaulted back to using my primary connection (dsl).
I was kicked to the character select screen and resumed playing like nothing happened.
This tells me that the problem is 100% between me and the login server. I still have no got my external IP changed (cause my isp is a bunch of idiots). If anyone has access to the login server who reads this, can you check to see if I got blocked by it somehow? I will send you a PM with my IP address if you respond.

I also am having this problem. for a whole year i connected fine. it seems this problem comes and goes. i also have comcast.ill go over whats happening.
90% of the time i connect to the server select screen, there are no servers shown, it is blank. i would have to connect 20 or so times before i can successfully get to the character select screen. (there are also a few errors that may pop up in this connection process, and sometime when i get to the character select screen, it tells me my spell file is out dated.. i have to disconnect and start over.)
once i'm finally on the server, there is about a 70% chance i will zone crash and be back to a blank server screen for another 20 logins.
this seems like a fairly common problem from what i'v read. im sure theres a fairly simple fix.

I have this problem as well. I'd say everything worked fine for years and one day just a blank server list. Not a single thing I can do nor any ideas from anyone else.

It's been months for me. My laptop and my girlfriend's studio one connect fine at her house but wont for the life of me work correctly at my home connection. The weirdest thing is, my home ISP is a Comcast T1.. and the one at my girlfriend's is a Frontier DSL. isn't this kind of counter intuitive? Nothing else seems to suffer these connection problems... I play ST:O and SW:TOR just fine at home, and download at 1mbs.
