just wondering if there is a way to make your connection more stable when playing the emu with the minilogin and no internet connection. i've heard about the datarate.txt and changed it, but there's not much difference when changed to 10.0. How much can u change this to? will it help much making it a bigger number? or r there other ways to try and get the emu more stable?

The datarate basically sets the size\number of packets being sent (I believe) each iteration. Basically setting the number lower (5.0) means smaller sends, best for dial up since if too much packet information is being sent it can't handle it. However if you set it TOO high (10 or greater), even on a broadband connection, you can reduce the effictiveness and cause lag as well.

Basically I'd just try different numbers between 5 and 9... other than that there's not much I can say for connection stability.

However, if you're attempting to run EQ on the same machine you're running the server, this might help (needs Win2K or XP and EQW):

Run EQ.
CTRL+ALT+DELETE and go into the task manager.
Look for EQGAME.EXE, rightclick, go Priority->BelowNormal.
Look for WORLD.EXE, rightclick, go Priority->AboveNormal or High.
Look for each instance of ZONE.EXE, rightclick, go Priority->AboveNormal or High.

If EQ lags TOO much, you can try setting its priority back to normal, however leave the world\zone processes running at a higher priority.

This helps a TON when I'm running a server and EQ on the same machine, since DirectX tries to use all possible system resources when running, and the emu ends up lagging\disconnecting a lot.
