View Full Version : Missing something simple...

I have a server up and running with a private login sever. Works great if I am on the same subnet but not from anywhere remote. I have been scanning the forums for a couple days and can't find a solution. My searches have turned up with not found often so I am here to ask the question.

What am I missing? If I am local to the server it works fine. I have edited the conf files accordingly. If I go remote I make it to character selection screen. After I hit enter world it hangs then goes to back to the login screen.

I have debugged my firewall and nothing is being denied so it isn't an ACL problem, wiresharked the client and the server, nothing stands out and nothing shows up in server logs.

What am I missing?

A case of beer or redbull for a working answer.

Thanks.

Do you think it could be a port issue? Could be that the port running on the server is not opened in your router.

I am 100% on the ports settings. I debugged while trying to connect and went thru my syslog just to be sure. When I ran wireshark I see traffic between the two computers but nothing happens when I hit enter world. It just goes back to a sign on screen after about a minute. This is the same set up I used a couple years ago expect I downloaded the latest source and compiled. I missed something. Just don't know what it is.

Did you open them up to TCP or UDP?

Both just for giggles. I am having the carrier test the line.

If all else fails, post your config files.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Problem resolved. There was an issue with the circuit I was running on. Framing and CRC errors, packet loss etc.
