Hi all,

I have a trouble for starting EQemu and EQ on Win7 x64 with Inetl Core-I7 several days.

I downloaded the RoF/F2P from steam and followed the guild to modify some files. For example, eqhost.txt, eqClient.ini, the shortcut for eqgame.exe
And also used some method from this forums, but I still have a black screen and no response after I logging-in and selecting a server.

I found a note on the PlayGuild. It siad that
"Note: The Rain of Fear client is still being finalized for EQEmu, and most servers won't start supporting it until it is completed. It has been added to this page now, since work is almost complete."

Does it mean that the reason why I got a black and no response screen is that I used the RoF/F2P from steam ? If it is true, have I use the installation CD to play EQ with EQemu?

Any suggestions ?

Thanks for your help!

The RoF version that sorta works with the emu is no longer available since the Steam version has been updated several times since then.

These are the client versions that do work: http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=ClientVersions

Thanks, lerxst2112

So the problem is caused by wrong version with EQemu. I have to wait for the support for this version of Rof from Steam.

Thanks for your help again!!

You must have missed this note near the top:

As of Feb 12th 2013, the RoF F2P client from Steam has been patched to a new version that is not yet supported by EQEmu

There is no ETA on when EQEmu will be caught up with Steam again, and even when it is, many servers will still take a while to update to it (and some never will).

For now, you would be best off trying to attain one of the other compatible versions of EQ that are mentioned on the play guide.

Hi Trevius,

Thanks your reply and help!
I actually missed the note on the top at the beginning. It is hard to maintain and update a server, especially a popular server. Thanks for all developers. You are so great!

I am an old EQ player that played EQ from 2000 to 2003. There are too many beautiful memory in EQ at that time. I am so happy to have chance to go back to play EQ one day. Thanks for your useful information. I will try to attain the other compatible versions of EQ that are mentioned on the play guide.

Thank you, lerxst2112 and Trevius.
