Ok im trying to fix some zones that have bad zone points that bring me into safe boxes, so I found the correct coordinates of the zone and then enetered them under the zones tab on EqAdmin, but when I try to zone to the zone in the game it still brings me to a safe box. Ive gotta be doing somthing wrong or somthing, so anyone got any ideas on what im doing wrong or how u change the coords properly? Is thier a command I can enter in-game to change them too? Thanks!

I know there is a big stink about this but zone coord I think are coming from the .cfg files now. So if you want to modify them you would have to modify the .cfg which I use to do in hex but ugh what a big load of work. Also not sure if the z commands are updated with the cfg files. Maybe a dev can answer that. Can we safely make our own cfg files inside the game or has that not been updated.

I was messing around with the .cfg files last week and had a few problems with it.

As the zone server boots with the zone specified that you are zoning into, it says its reading the safe points from the database, if you check the logs. However, this doesnt seem to be so. :P

I tried both with and without the .cfg files, and with helped more than without.

Also tried the #zsave command to set things the way I wanted them, and then #zsave zonename.cfg. This saves it into the root directory from where you run the emu, rather than into the cfg folder, but after copying the file into the cfg folder and rebooting the zone again, it made no difference.

I too am interested in the answers to all of this. :)

Was told today in irc that #zsave doesnt save the cfg files properly right now, so that any zone point info would have to be edited in hex.

So I downloaded my first ever hex editor and I'm trying now to make heads and tails out of the numbers I see :P

ah, that hex editor sure sounds like fun. :P Ill probably download one latter and try it out. Havent used one yet to edit any of these eqemu files so if u figure it out, like what lines contain the cords or whatever please let me kno. :)

Are you talking about going from zone to zone? 'Cause I've managed to change some succesfully through the admin program..

Yeah, asked Image about it yesterday and he said he'd look at it sometime.

Btw- some more info for ya on what its doing -

When I type #zone blackburrow, it puts me up a tree at -1 -1 13.80. No biggie, cept I'm not a druid so I dont like to hug a tree.
Zone server logs say its reading the safe point from the db, but it doesnt really. Where is it getting this -1 -1 13.80 from?

If I type #zone blackburrow while in blackburrow, it takes me to the safe spot that I have declared in the DB as -159 39 5. Cool. But that only works if I'm already in the zone.

Hopefully we'll get answers to this soon. Its puzzling and I cant wait to hear what's really going on.

yea hopfully... the same thing happends to me in templeveeshan... i get zoned to safebox with wrong coords, but when I type zone templeveeshan again while in the zone it zones me to the coords in the DB... its like the server reads the coords from the .cfg files first then reads the DB ones when the cfg ones fail or somthing... hopefully we'll get answers soon so we can have working zones.

The eqAdmin tool is not setup for how eq handles the target locs. The target XYZ should be entered as YXZ. Almost all of the locs are broken because of that in the current db. I have fixed alot of zones this way, however I have trouble with the Z axis alot. Sometimes it will take, other times it wont. I've tried looking at the cfg files in hex, i dont see any numbers in those files.

Im trying to find a way to add new zone points and make them work. West freeport is missing one to east freeport and vise versa. Maybe someone knows?

I imagine the best way would be to go on EQlive and jot down a bunch of /loc numbers in game, then feed them into the admin program. I don't know who off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are sites out there that have the /locs of zone entrances and exits...

FYI i fixed the zoning points in 0.3.13, it was a bug for starting at 0,0,0 in every zone.

Thanks image!! Your hard work does not go unnoticed. We will patiently await the next release. Besides, I tried looking at the cfg files and only managed to scratch a bald spot on my head.

cheers

I am running EQEmu 0.3.13 and I still cannot zone into ToV, Veeshan's Peak & Sanctus Seru, and possibly others. I always get dumped to the safebox. Can anyone shed some light on how to fix this? I have searched this site but have not found any specific solution to this problem.
