I'm trying to figure out what's going on here. None of the links I saved or in the forum itself works. Highly frustrating and seemingly irresponsible.

</facepalm>

Please read the posting on the front page about EQEmulator moving to a new ip address.

Your links are a url address and not an ip one.

The internet/isp DNS servers have not updated their listings to point the url translation to EQEmulators new ip address.

This is usually resolved within a day..but, if you are still having problems, try clicking the link that you want to follow, then replace the url
(www.eqemulator.net) portion with the ip address listed on the front page for that url.

Again, this should resolve itself once the 'Internet' catches up.

I was expecting a response like that. Unfortunately, I wasn't disappointed.

I was aware of the change as described on the front page.

Explaining things properly will usually lead to less confusion.

So, if someone wants to access the links from just a couple days ago they can copy the link to their browser and replace the 'www.eqemulator.net' in the web address with '108.61.129.166'? Wow, that's actually pretty easy.

I'm glad it was described in such a simple manner.

I agree with AdrianD.

You gotta remember that most of the guys that administer this project are paid to operate at the expert level for their primary jobs.

This project is an extra-curricular activity for them and it's really easy to miss a full explanation for something that they take for common knowledge.

Plus, you need to consider that most of the day yesterday was spent trying to get the server back online..so, the fact that we got an update message
with the actual ip addresses is a bonus :D

Letting everyone know you are facepalming your way through the forums sure does help those who need a little extra text to get them on the right track.

Be nice and kind, like Jesus.

Would you prefer </boottothehead> instead?

I took the time to explain what needs to be done to connect to broken links.

I could tell most people how stupid they are or how much they suck if they came to a place where I do well. While I don't disagree it's hard to turn the switch off sometimes, it doesn't make an elitist attitude any more tolerable. Not pointing at anyone in particular, but the less vocal majority know exactly what I am talking about.

Regardless, I'm not worried any more. I figured out mini-login and can mess around this way. I also erased, redownloaded, recompiled and whatever else is done for a working server for the third time in about as many days.

The contemptuous give me motivation to compile a working guide and I've already started an outline. It also feels good to be of service.

Good day.

I was not aware when I wrote this that the old wiki is not going to be on the new address. Please look for new messages concerning the
activation of the new wiki. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

(For the time being, the old wiki is still accessible using the ip replacement method.)
