The server starts up error free and I can see it in the list of servers. When I try to connect to the server it looks like it is about to log in but then goes back to the login screen.

On the client side it looks like there is a firewall issue so I completely disabled the firewall on the server and on the client.

Here is what it says:

2014-08-16 12:04:18 Networking: using port [59578].
2014-08-16 12:04:18 Networking: Connection Established [1]
2014-08-16 12:05:18 *** WorldAuthenticate. Error connecting to 10.0.0.160:9000 [client:DisconnectReasonConnectFail,server:Disconne ctReasonNone]
2014-08-16 12:05:18
2014-08-16 12:05:18 Networking: Connection Closed [0] with 0 pending bytes.
2014-08-16 12:05:18 *** ERROR: WorldAuthenticate has failed after attempting to connect.

I notice it shows the local IP of the server which is a little confusing. I am not sure if that is because I am on the local network or if that is a blunder and it should show a public IP.

Here is my server config file:

I am not sure what to do at this point.

When I type http://10.0.0.160:9000/ it says:

Password: Password buffer overflow. Bye Bye.

if that means anything.. I am trying to figure this problem out but I am pretty much out of ideas guys.

I had to take a break for a couple hours. I decided to try and log in again and analyze the packets to learn more about what was happening and it logged in as smooth as ever. wtf???

I don't know how or why because I didn't change anything. I am very excited to be part of the EQEmu community been following you guys for years and years off and on.

The last time I built a server you could only log in and equip gear. You guys have come so far, thank you all for your extreme dedication!

I did actually change something that I remembered later on.

I disabled the secondary network adapter which was not plugged in at the time. I was able to reproduce this problem so I tried updating the network driver and leaving the second adapter enabled and that also fixed this problem.

Welcome back to the community =) everyone here is very helpful so if you have e issues just ask. FYI I wouldn't update your server from the source for a little bit till we update the guide for the new server build incase of unforseen problems.

I have no idea why they said that. It shouldn't be that hard following the guide, just need to do a little more manually updating the DB since PEQ hasn't been able to update due to people being busy IRL.
