Looking for a client. The Everquest Titanium is over $100 on Amazon and Ebay. Does anyone know if the current version available from Steam would work? I would rather have a legit version so please do not suggest "google a client" as a solution.

Nope, latest supported is Rain of Fear. To elucidate; every single patch they change the offsets (e.g. the codes they use to talk to the server), and fairly often they will change the structures that store the data. Not to mention they are making tons of changes in terms of functionality of recent. As such, by the time they are reverse engineered by us, they are changed again by Sony. So we're not really done fully supporting RoF yet...

What route would you suggest?

I actively play on the Sony EQ servers now. I'm a tech and an amateur coder and a project like this is 'dreamy'. But I don't want to grab a client that is doomed from the get go nor grab a client that doesn't support current EQEMU functionality.

A lot of people don't like the SoF expansion..but, I have seen it for a lot cheaper on Amazon, at times.

The SoF client is the last that you can purchase. All expansions afterwards were steam releases.

You said you played live recently, you would probably prefer trying to get UF or RoF, but you might need a time machine to get them

 Agreed.

Thanks for the feedback all.
