Re-Introduction to Raid Addicts (Custom Legit)

Hi Folks,

Shaking off the dust and making my personal comeback to the server, hopefully people will put aside a rough past and allow me to re-join the community. My apologies to those who were affected.

With that being said, on the second of June the server turned 13 years old of course I haven't been really active for the last year but I still have some people logging in once in a while and decided that if there were people interested I to would also return.

This year I am finding that I am very rusty but I have activated the old Promo Bot which for new players that will be great however there is nothing currently going on for older players however once I get used to everything again I will do something for them as well.

Started the facebook group which you guys can get the spells from for the server.

Promo bot also gives players a full set of Tier 2 armor, runes to get some custom spells, and Epic 3.0, which the turn-in is done by going to PoK, and then to Dreadspire (The big orb in the middle of neutral side)

Yay nice screenshots, we are now ROF / ROF2 compatible (Thanks to KinglyKrab's assistance) as well so be sure you guys log on and hail the Promo Bot in the player hub (near where you zone in at , looks like old school RZ) Looking forward to seeing everyone take advantage of this promo :)

Promo Bot has been finished, made sure to remove the flags from all the old school toons who used it back in 2009. That way all of you can still log on and collect it's rewards, tonight I added 2 new items to the Promo Bot one of which being the FIRST Raid Addicts Power Source slot (which works) Be sure you all get on and take advantage of this soon because the promo bot will vanish soon!

Glad to see you're having a good time Shade, hope you continue to do so! Mort just added a new potion vendor in Kerra which will help you new guys out with damage shields and healing! Best part is the potions are pretty cheap! He's also added an EXP potion quest to the soulbinder in Kerra!

We're also working on more improvements and of course bug fixes for all of you new guys!

Edit: Gonna start a changelog type deal here

- Added Potion Vendor and EXP Quest to Kerra
- Added Basilisk of Kerra quest, giving a nice weapon to low level players (Level 30+ recommended)
- Completely rebalanced Vex Thal (starter zone) making it much easier to break into for new players.
- Moved the Instrument of Godliness and DPS Aug quests to Kerra (Level 70+ recommended)
- Rebalanced several Tier 1 encounters to be easier for newer players

Recent Server Changes and Highlights :


With assistance from KinglyKrab we have polished quests in kerra ridge and vexthal decreasing the amount of confusion as well as lines of code. TY KinglyKrab!

With assistance from Wingofdoom and KinglyKrab we have improved the efficiency of the teleporters in Kerra Ridge, nice work guys!

Going zone by zone and adjusting the intensity of mobs for new players thereby in my hopes creating a more user friendly approach pattern to tiers 1-3. (working on the possibility of giving tiers 1-2 an almost solo player difficulty by utilizing the servers 3 goons)

Addition of the #GUIDE command in game which details out server features, popular zones for experience as well as popular zones and mobs to obtain gear.

NO MORE TRAINERS : We haven't taken them away entirely because people may still use them in order to train tradeskills however standard skills are now automatically set for players as they level up.

Working with new players and old players to get an overall smoothness built into all of the work done here over the years in order to keep a steady player base

- Thanks to Kingly, we are now fully updated with the latest binaries! That means thousands of new AAs!

- Nearly 300 NPCs have been changed to be easier for newer players to handle.

- Many old school quests have been moved to Kerra to be easier for newer players to find!

HI Folks,

Just an update, we have ended the promo bot, as well as double experience thank you for all that logged in and participated. I just wanted to chime in again and thank KinglyKrab and Kimura for all of the hard work on the restoration of the server in the last few weeks ! (You guys are the best)

I had to go ahead and do a slight rollback tonight due to a few mistakes made in the database (my fault for a lack of communication) but we are back on track and up and running again. For this mistake I am planning on setting up a tracking / SVN or LOG system that will keep track of all changes made by us from here on out.

To all of the people in EQEMU , would love to have your input on the server now, my team and I have worked hard to help make things on the server from tiers 1-3 more smooth , that is about 7 years of work that we are basically streamlining into something that is basically soloable for everyone.

Also keep note that we have current Binaries, as well as up to 3 goons in game per character via our goon quests.

Another huge and wonderful change to the server has been the addition of many quest npc's added to kerra that were once scattered in god knows how many zones.

Vex Thal - People are absolutely loving the new release of the starter zone ( we killed eruds crossing because no one liked it ) , Kimura and Kingly coordinated with myself to get this zone nice and smooth for new players, we also plan on adding to the zone later.

My name is Jordan Mortenson, i am the creator and owner of Raid Addicts. I wanted to tell you all that i have fully appreciated my time in this community since around june 2002 or so. The first server i joined into was Krushers (Semi Legit) , I was of course inspired by King Krushers amazing configuration of Everquest. As a fan server i have strived to replicate what was not only Everquest Custom Content, but also a fun filled environment known as "Raid Addicts".

I would like to announce that I have finally finished the level 100 spells on the server and that means that all 16 classes are now able to obtain them via "ThurgadinB" and will be expanding outward from there. (more zones will be released soon with the spells)

I must say out of all servers I played raid addicts has been by far my favorite server small community with room to grow yet the staff has been some of the most active iv seen and helpful my first glitch encounter was corrected within minutes and gor my item right away now on to what I love about it most is the challenge it has provided its not easy but its not hard I think of it as a 3 bears story server lol its just right many many things to do and see here and people are so eager to help you ! This server has some of the best custom content and spells iv ever seen. So if you are looking for a new home I recommend giving this server a go ! Ill help much, as I can :-)

Raid addicts has been around for many years now, so all that content of years and years is still on the server, this server has the possibility of keeping solo/groupers/boxers/raiders busy for months and even possibily years, has the server has been going strong for Years!!!

Now lets be Honest i could go on about how things are different on the server :) But instead Im only going to talk about the new Features and changed details which have been game changing!!

Skills- Now we all know when its a pain, Auto trained upon leveling!!
Bots to help newer players and non boxers, max of 3 ( Will explain this)
Active Staff – always someone around to assist with problems
Big Player Base – This helps when wantiong to take down harder stuff than you are capable of
Easily over 50 Custom zones including HUNDREDS of custom NPCs
Hub Zone – Compliled with quest npcs, trainers, spell npcs,
Teleporter - ( 1 universal teleporter) Running across 5+ zones to kill 1-2 mobs can be annoying just to Wipe, No more worry about that

Changes that have been made reccently for the Players!!!
Bot/Goon System-
For you those players that love having bots with you, this is perfect,
You get a total of 3 bots thoughout your playing time, But all within short playing time You get..
Fighter( Warrior goon) to help with your first adventure
Monk goon when you reach Kerra isle ( level 15) AND when you have achieved 60k plat from either farming mobs or other players, for some extra DPS
Druid goon – When you complete the Tier 1/2 Quests , simple killing older easier targets that are based for solo/Duo if harder mob
I Can not stress enough that these goons are only a pocket of power prepared to real players, As alot of the items buffing your power are clickys.

Tier Zones Rebalanced
Yes Tier zones are now re-balanced and now are constnatly looking at being reworked so they less tedious, less insane, and less grindy

Tier 1 – is Now solo based
Tier 2- Mostily Solo based with Bosses Duo
Tier 3 – Duo based, a couple bosses may need a group
Tier 4 – Group Based – Also Faction grind reduced by 80%!!!
Tier 5 – Current Raid Tier 1-2 groups required for the current events

Hub Zone Kerra Ridge
Previously the hub zone had just the primary npcs located at,
But Now Kerra ridge has actually gained the word Hub zone now being a network of NPCS
From merchants to tradeskills to Spell scribers to Guk( Alternate Currency) merchants, to tier1 – tier 4 quest npcs, , this is litearly the Network of Questing Hub!, So much to find, so much content to unlock , All quests scaling from level 1 – 100!

Previous Donater Zones Uqua/Forgotton Halls
Both of these zones are now Open to the Public, What does this mean?

Uqua - is one of the best levelling zones in the game ( well the server), Fast respawns Easy mobs,
Scaling from the bottom right to the top, Not only is it a good XP zone, you also get a good pet for free that will help you level alot faster with ease!
Event Spawner T1 – T2 Events – Yes you can spawn events that are respawnable after a HOUR , Where some of the events/mobs could be a multiple hour repsawn, You can farm Items/Events for T1-T2 here for ease and easy to reach, Without Having to zone, For example, ToV event ( Items for T2 armour quest), Kael Frost Giant Event ( T2 Molds )
Another Great Event would be the Dreksaleq ( Trakanon on live) – Drops 1 of the best T1-T3 augs i n game, NON lore,

Forgotton Halls- originally Donater Zone T2, Where this zone you can spawn some of the T3 bosses, Upgrade your Donator pet, and Also Farm a T3 boss for T3 Metzer Tokens!

These Zones are Equallly as Important for each other, with reducing down time when farming Tiers! Fully Unlocked Now Just say Uqua or Halls to the Teleporter

Custom Spells
1-87 – There is many spells thoughout 1-87 to help each and every class in leveling and lower content, as when the server first came live level 87 was max, meaning that these spells can work wonders for you untill T4+
88-99 – level 88-99 Spells was first interduced at the end of T4, as a End/ Nerf to DPS Necks Phase 1 ( when they was hugely Overpowered) These can Be achieved by a T1 , as these are a midely semi rare drop ( Runes 1 per level), in akheva which is a good leveling zone for 80-100
100- These are part of Tier 5 content, and also are droped by T5 monsters, But the fourtate thing about them is that they are infact Tradeable, and do have a High value with them so players do trade them, as these new spells can transform classes :)

Development on this server seems to have stagnated. The forums they are using are hard to navigate. I have raised a few concerns but nothing has been addressed yet. I want to help contribute to the development of this server but I am not getting anywhere. I am a donator and this server is very good, but there are some issues and polish that could be addressed. I would like to see the server population increased as well, so anything I can do to help contribute to this project I am more than willing.

Kimura was assisting us, but due to personal matters he is no longer able to do so, meaning the work three people were doing is now on the shoulders of two. I do all of the script development, website development, and I fix minor content bugs or issues with items. The website isn't really hard to navigate, there's literally a dropdown on the index that takes you anywhere you want to go. The forum is from-scratch, written entirely by me, so it may not be as well designed as this forum or any other forum maintained by a forum community like PHPBB, but it works nonetheless. And to answer your question Provocating, we do have a Facebook page, and I don't think I've received a tell from Movement, nor has Mortenson, as Mortenson would tell me that someone was looking to assist.

Yes apologies for the slowing down, I also had to MOVE in the last few weeks so moving is always "OOOOOF" , but the dust is starting to settle from that so I can focus more on the server. We have a nice Christmas Special running "Santa Hippy" is now in kerra ridge you just have to have 26 open slots in your inventory and go and talk to him. Keep in mind this is a 1 reward per 1 account deal so choose wisely as far as the char you want the rewards on.

Hi Folks!, I would just would love to introduce that we have nearly finished TIER 5 content on Raid Addicts, this was one of our larger tiers so it's taken almost 4 years to finish.

The coolest thing is however of late is that we have really worked hard to smooth out tiers 1-4 in order to make things better for new players!

Added :

AA Tokens ( these things give you AA points for an exchange to a certain NPC and they will also act as a kind of currency on the server )

GUK Crates and Boxes ( We have added the new Guk Currency items which range from around 500 - 10,000 guk points each which was a great effort to make the Guk Items easier to obtain)

GUK Items Added (Like 40 new cool items added to the GUK merchants which will enhance game play)

Just wanted to say we love the EQEMU community and wish to support it at all times, thank you to every dev and powers to be for keeping this community thriving!

Maze what would we all do without you busting peoples balls all day ? This place would be so boring heheh :) Yeah there was a few months maybe years combined where things weren't getting done as fast but that's only because RL got in the way. Would love to have you stop in and check stuff out though , your always welcome.

Maze is EQEmu's old grandfather that is just way too inappropriate to bring around strangers. All jokes aside though I might come check it out. I was a bit turned off by the "outdated" feel of the raiding tiers. (I only use that word because there's not really another way I can think of to explain it). Other than that I had some fun on RA when I was playing it for a bit.

Tiers 1-3 are Soloable now, and Tier 4 is boxable

You obviously are speaking from a bias opinion. Raid Addicts is very player friendly, it does not require you to box although it makes it much easier once you're max level. Speaking from experience if there is something that seems wrong or "jumbled" the community and Admins are more than willing to help anyone who seeks it. There are plenty of "Raids" that are much much more than "#npcspawn" and anyone who has actually taken the time to actually play seems to enjoy them enough to continue to play.
So next time you decide to bash the server or Admins of the server take a moment to play and if you decide that this server is not for you don't take it to the forums with name calling I mean were all adults here, even if your not you don't have to go down that road.
