View Full Version : Cant login to my server via internet

My sever is 'Steelhammer's Norrath'.

It is up and I can see it in the server listing, and it is registered but I cant login to it from the login.eqemulator.net server, but I **can** login to other servers, so it isn't a problem with my client.

Additionally, LAN play works just fine on my server. I can login from several machines on the network.

I am sure there is a setting I have wrong, but I have no idea what it is.

I AM forwarding ports 7000 - 7100 and port 9000 UDP/TCP to my local server machine.

Any help figuring out what might be wrong would be greatly appreciated. You should be able to see my server, please try to login to it.

Did you check to see if you have a conflict with login server ID's ?
Logging in from your lan with a login name/IP and then trying to use
the same login name on the public login server might create a problem.
Not sure if you tried yet, create another login server account on the
public accounts and then try getting on to your server again.

Yes, I am logging in with a Login server account which was setup on the forums and is different than my local LAN login.

Actually, sorry, tried to enter your server and didn't happen, it crashed my client. (UF)

Try removing the possessive apostrophe from the server's name and see what happens.

Made Uleat's recommended change to the server name. Also ensured that my Windows Firewall was not causing the problem by setting up rules to allow world.exe, zone.exe and ucs.exe access through the firewall.

Still can't connect from the EQEmulator.net Login server. I can login to other servers on the list, just not mine.

No problems at all though connecting from the LAN with the local login server though.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I would love for others to be able to play on my server.

1. Are your ports forwarded correctly?

3. Can you access anything else from the internet inside your network? I.E FTP.

Maze_EQ thanks for a link to that tool. It is telling me that my ports are closed, even though I have them forwarded on my router.

I'm sure that's the problem.

Looks like the DSL modem from my service provider is blocking the ports. Sucks for me.

Does that DSL Modem have a built in router ? A lot of the newer ones from providers
are coming out with now. I have a cisco one from my provider, but I can log in to it
with browser (http://192.168.0.1) and configure port forwarding. But depends on what
you have there.

Click Windows, enter "cmd" (without quotes), then ENTER for a DOS prompt.

Then type "ipconfig /all | more"

Look for "Default Gateway", this will be your routers IP address in most cases (just in case it is not 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, etc.). I say router, because that is the portion of the "DSL modem" (which is actually a "modem", router and switch combined) that we're concerned with.

Sometimes, these ports are blocked just because they're uncommon and it's there for "your safety". If you cannot change them, ask them to push a config with the appropriate ports open.

Thanks to those that offered helpful advice. Turns out my CenturyLink DSL modem blocks all incoming traffic and I don't have access to open the proper ports.

I may need to switch ISPs.
