Got my server setup using Akkas PEQ Server Installer and looking for some instructions on enabling bots.
Probably a stupid question but are bots and mercs the same thing?
Never mind it was a stupid question.
Still need some help with bots.
Thanks

No on the bots and mercs being the same.
First thing you will need to do is re-compile your code with bots enabled in CMake.
Copy those new binaries to your server directory and manually run eqemu_update.pl.
Select option '4' twice, and that is "supposed" to bring you up-to-speed.

This is just for those who use Akka's installer and are not able to compile source to enable
bots. Link is for precompiled binaries (win 7 - 64 bit). Compiled today (July 8th).
WinRar file is 43 MB in size for download. (just unzip in eqemu server folder) Backup old!

Thanks DanCanDO! Would be awesome to have this stickied somewhere if you are willing to periodically recompile!

Yes, I'm going to try and get around to posting a fresh compile once a month.
I posted one before somewhere (chuckle), but in future, I will use this thread
for updated compiles for anyone who needs them. Google drive is free :)

I got the bots working. Soon as I have time I'll try and write up some instructions.
Great Work to all who worked on the bots, they work better than I had hoped. Really changes the game for a solo player.

I pulled a fresh updated source and compiled binaries WITH BOTS enabled today, July 19.
Compiled with Win 7 (64 bit), You can download them here:

Would make sense to just have these things available for folks through the updater.

Sorry Akkadius, I was just trying to give (non-technical) people an easier alternative to
getting bots going on their server. I see lots of posts with people having difficulties in
updating a non-bot server to a bot server. I would encourage all to use the installer and
go from there.

No need to apologize, you are trying to benefit the community, which is awesome :)

Could we add this to the updater, so that if you wanted BOTS, it would pull Dan's binaries?

I'll get it added, the binaries will be in the same repo as non-bots though.

This is in place now.
Run option 20 to update the eqemu_update script.
Run option 18 to download latest windows bots binaries.
