So I am new to setting up a eq server and wanting to learn. I have it installed thanks to the wonderful windows installer. I was searching through the forum but am overwhelmed or miss the information I am need of now.
1) How do setup accounts?
2) What is the general list of ports that are needed to be forwarded?
You guys are awesome and keep the great work.

Usually, people write technical documentation for highly technical things.
Port 9000, 7000-7500-Pulled straight from the 2 page document on how to double click Akkadius' installer.
That's just for access to the from outside into the game.
I'd forward your SQL port, FTP port (if you're using this to allow developers to make quest/source changes)

You have a long "learning" journey ahead of you Chucko. Get used to feeling "overwhelmed"
with the information on these forums. One of the first things I would recommend you do,
is get to know how to access (and work with) your server database.(aka - the peq).
If you used the installer, you're most likely setup with MariahDB.
In your databse is a table called tblloginserveraccounts. This is where usernames/passwords
is stored for your server. You have a lot of reading to do, we've all had to.
Take some time (days, not hours), and read through the forums. You'll love it.

As far as setting up accounts, by default the installer is set to create the accounts for you when you login. At the login you enter whatever you want for a username and password and it will create that account in the database and log you in. You can enable and disable this function in the loginserver settings file in your EQEmu directory. It is set to TRUE as default and FALSE if you want to disable this function. This is if you are running in locally on a LAN.
If your server is connecting to the EQ Emulator site (default) and joining the list of servers, the players need a login account from the eqemulator.net site and your server will be listed in the server selection screen.
I hope this helps some. I forget what all ports are used, but they are pretty easy to find in the forums and wikis.
Hope this helps some.

One reason the site seems "overwhelming" is the tendency to start a new post for questions like this instead of searching :) Just food for thought.
