Is there a way that I can convert my steam EQ, which is up to date, into the eqemu? I'm not very computer literate but I can follow instructions, if there are some anywhere out there.

It's not so much about making the client work with eqemu as it is about making eqemu work with the client (it's not an easy task for people who have done it before...)
As far as where to find the client, that discussion is forbidden.

If you updated the Steam version of EQ to live, then you'll have to delete and redownload it from Steam. Remember not to patch. In fact, don't start the updater at all (i.e., do not launch the game through Steam--follow the EQEmu play guide after obtaining a valid EQ installation).

The current Steam version is incompatible, regardless of if you patch it or not. We are currently up to the Rain of Fear client. As far as where to obtain it, like Uleat said, we can't tell you.
