Im trying to get a cop of rof2 going. did everything as instructed in the wiki but everytime i try to start the application from the shortcut i get this error

eqgame.exe - system error
the program cant start because mss32.dll is missing from your computer. try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

I am at a loss, i am not very good at this type of stuff and have no idea where to go with this message to figure it out. any help would be appreciated.

I dunno, i thought directx is something always on your comp. I can play p1999 with titanium and also play on another server with a hybrid client UF client. they both work just fine. its only this rof2 thats giving me the error

Try this: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

DirectX isn't cumulative in the way you'd think, so sometimes you need the older runtimes as well.

Sounds like your client is missing a file. Grab a copy of live EQ and see if the mss32.dll is part of it still otherwise move it from one of your other clients and see what happens.

If you need the "mss32.dll" file, here is the one from my RoF2 client :

Thanks Necromancer.

And it only took 10 years for him/her to muster up the courage to make that first post.
