So I've got a mob in Plane of Air on my server, "a_thunder_spirit" that is supposed to hit for 198 max according to its database table. Its class is Shadowknight, and I posted many months ago about getting help setting the Harm Touch timer for mobs correctly, to 3600, which I believe I have done.

This mob, however, continues to hit characters on my server for 502 damage. When it happens, the message is "a thunder spirit strikes you for 502 damage" or something along those lines.

I've set the max damage of the mob to 198, changed harm touch timer to 3600, but this mob is still hitting people for 502 every 15 seconds or so! Any advice?

Edit: I did some digging, it appears the NPC has a special ability, listed as "10,1" in EOC. This appears to be a "Magical Attack". Is this a value that can be edited? Reuse time edited? Should I just take it off the mob?

I don't think these little guys were hitting for 500 back in Classic :/

Edit 2: Nope, more digging the Magical attack just means they have to be hit by a magic weapon.

Figured out a few things here in the Discord that I wasn't super familiar with.

#1, the mob was tagged as a SK but on Magelo its tagged as a Chanter or Bard, so I changed its class to bard.

#2 it was sharing a spell list with the Thunder Princess on the first island of POSky. I changed its spell list to the Shadowknight Pet spell list as recommended by someone on Discord, and the fight was MUCH more reminiscent of live, though its fearing, casting heart flutter, and other SK spells in addition to Choke that I can't find verification online of them doing so on live.

The only spell casting I see anyone commenting, is that they would cast Choke.

Oh well, the mobs are MUCH more manageable now, and are much closer to how they should truly operate.

The class doesn't really matter so much unless they get inherent abilities from said class (dual wield, backstab, harm touch, etc).

The spellset assigned will control all the spells and melee procs they use (in the case of the thunder spirit princess, 3038 spellset has the 898 melee proc and the SK spellset (9) as the parent list).

Per P99, only the princess should be a SK, but there's no confirmation she actually casts those spells. It is easily confirmed that all of them should proc Choking (898 ) though.

Think its fair to say she shouldn't have her own spell set, or if she does, that it should only have Choke? Same for the Thunder Spirits?

I mean it's your server so do it how you want, but I personally can't remember them ever casting SK spells.

Appreciate the responses Chrs. I want to get close to a true to classic server with my limited knowledge on editing/updating a server. Using the info here and in discord, I set the princesses Parent setting to 0, and put the Thunder Spirits back on her spell set. There are no spells being cast now, only proc's of Choke, but the procs are VERY rapid. Looks like that chance is currently set to 50%, so I think I'll drop that down to 15-20%. Very happy with the way these guys are currently operating now :)
