Using windows 2k pro, i am getting on the servers with ADSL but not able to get on with a USR Voice Modem Pro at 49k. I need the DSL for other tasks, so really need to just use the PC with the standard modem.

Anyone have an idea why a 49k connection can not log in a server? I don't see any issues with the modem. I am buying a USR Courrier to see if that helps, but this modem has in the past been fine. just in the recent updates to eqemu it has been failing.

Thanks in advance:

Actualy I find that the servers have a hard time negociating with 56k users, probably because the 56kers cant send packets of info to the server as fast as it needs.. but have u tried decreasing or increasing the DataRate.txt file in ur eq dir? Id recomend u try and decrese the number in their to a lower number then try.

I tried the whole range of datarates, no luck. I tried also changing to a USR Courier V. Everthing modem thinking that it would help, no luck either.

Basically the send lights blink, but the servers never respond.

I am connecting at 45k to 49k roughly. There must have been some coding recently that changed the required bandwidth for logging on the servers. or increased the frequency/or amount of data that needs to be transferred as you mentioned.

Is anyone getting on with 56k anymore? If so would love to hear what modem settings you have, and connection speed.. ect ect.

Couple of things, i am not connecting on the same PC as my server, hence that is why i need to use the dailup, and am using Win2k, but it is the same problem now with Win98SE also.

you are getting in with a 56k connection?

What speed are you actually connecting at?
are you using any optimizer software ?
what modem settings are you using? and what modem?
what os?

Thanks Mudman

Mudman if you are using AOL for some reason you cant connect to the server unless you are using version 6 with winxp or 2k...Haven't figured out what is different about it yet. But I have no problem connecting with 56k at all.
