Hello everyone.

I patched to EQLive today and noticed a character format. This has the potential for some great uses in the emulator. I will use innothule_chr.txt as the reference file in my demonstrations. The new character format files have the name format "<zone>_chr.txt"... In this file, you will have data that looks like:

2
mos,cazicthule_chr2
spi,ecommons_chr

If you break that down, what you get is:

#number of model lines#
#model lines#

Each model line uses this format:

#three letter model name from S3D (get this from EQInside)#,#s3d file to load from (minus S3D extention)#

The potential for the use of custom TXT files is enormous in EQEmu. Using custom TXT files, any server can put any model in any zone. However, there is one drawback. Right now, I am unsure if EverQuest loads just the "known" TXT fles or if it will try to load any and all TXT files for all zones. More research is required to figure out how exactly EverQuest deals with this format.

On a side note, this seems to be a current (or maybe future) only client feature at this time. As such, it will not work with EQEmu at this time. :(

Good luck!
