View Full Version : N00bs guild
OK im a n00b to eq. I just did the patch thing and all and so im gonna have to wait for eqemu to catch up but that isnt what im posting about.
I played eqemu back last december but i sorta got frustrated because as a n00b with no skills, i always got owned at every attempt i made at leveling.
My idea is maybe a n00b guild that basicly helps new users to get to a point they dont get frustrated.
The basic idea is these peopel could meet at a certain time on a selected sevrer and work togethor for an hour or so to just level, gain weapons, armour, and what have you.
Anyways its just an idea and like i said, im a n00b so i dont know all thats going on with eqemu and what is available. If there is something like this already available then i would really appreicate some info about it.
If not then im certainly willing to donate some of my time and webdesign abilities to help set this up.

so do you mean like a general eqemu guild for all servers? well if any newbs come to everhacking i would be happy to spawn them some uber crap :P i think it would be a goo d idea to help out newbies, but i dont know if a guild would do the trick. may be some sort of EQemu guide to playing the game. make it so they can print it out and have it on hand as they play. you could still do your guild thing, but a guide would probably yeild more results. also it gets pretty frustrating trying to help newbies sometimes. like in eqlive i would get these nasty little beggar types going "plz plz plzzzzz gimmee some stuff!!!" and i would be like "go earn it" and they would be like "oh plzzzz just gimmee a sword so i can lvl!" and i would be like "d00d im not giving you my 5kpp sword, its my only one...leave me alone" and then there would be massive amounts of "plzzzzzzzzzzz plzzzzz plzzzzz's" and finally i'd hand them 1pp and thats how i dealt with them, others just got /ignored and such
ya so i would help you some on your guild if you want, but i dont want to stress myself out dealing with newbies :P

Well for the most part if you read the "readme" You will find there is a ton of Commands you can use. Hence #summonitems, #setallskills and stuff like that. By useing the commands will pretty much keep you from getting owned. Hell a level 1 with a 20/20 weapon would just about own any mob upto lvl 12 w/o loosing any HP or Skills =p EQEMu is about taken advantage of what EQLive does not alow you to. So just about everything that you cant do on EQLive you can do on EQEMu. Have Every "Uber" Weapon and armor for your calss of Choice is one main reason ppl come to EQEMu. Have fun thats the most important thing i can say.
Yeah just some form of help for new users. It gets very frustrating. Your ideas are probably better than mine purly because you know mroe about the game than i. I mean most characters start off with little to no money and no abilities or any real weapons.
It just gets very frustrating. Some form of guid or what have you would be very nice.
Also your offer of spawning items is very generous of you and gretaly appreciated. ill be sure to keep that in mind when i get a chance to play there.

Well, I'd love to be a part of it... I don't know many of the summonitem command numbers... been just picking and seeing if I turn up being lucky. I have been playing normal EQ for over a year now and know a thing or two about the game... though I got fed up with them charging like that for so many people without really giving much to the community. Also, once I get my programming skills up I'd love to actually help with some true coding as well. But I play on the server that seems to have the most people and just started last night on it thanks to the info on the IRC channel for this site. If you'd like to form up a guild, just PM me... I'd love to create or help create one.

Just type:
#search <insert some text>
where <insert some text> would be whatever you are interested in..
ie.
#search swiftwind
or
#search silk sash
It will show you the item numbers for any matches, then you can type:
#summonitem <itemnumber>
where <itemnumber> is the number returned from your #search
Easy :)

EDIT: inserting in code so my brackets work :P
