whenever i use eqw now once it strats loading the screen turns black and just stays black

i saw this new method on the readme file

patchme: Load up EverQuest (eqgame.exe) with the command line "patchme"
(without quotes i.e "C:\Program Files\EverQuest\eqgame.exe patchme")

i tryed putting "C:\Program Files\EverQuest\eqgame.exe patchme" into my computer and it didn't work.

wat am i doing wrong?

That command line assumes that EQ itself is in C:\Program Files\Everquest. If you have install it to a different location edit the command line accordingly also you must removed the quotes (the ") from the command line. A surefire (and simple) way to ensure it works is simply to edit the destop icon for EQ and add 'patchme' to the end (without the ')

From Reaper:

"C:\Program Files\EverQuest\eqgame.exe patchme"

Change it to this:

"C:\Program Files\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme

(Assuming your EQ Directory is C:\Program Files\EverQuest, as mentioned in previous post)

alright i'm sorry guys i am dumb.

i tryed all the things u said and i still don't get into eq emu

i know this may sound stupid with this being called the patchme method and everythign. but the point of this is to get eq to start without patching... right? cuz when it patches it changed the host back and makes it eq live servers. just want to know wat i am trying to do here

my eq is located at C:\Program Files\Everquest and Ethereal i tryed to ad pathme to the end of the eq desktop item so it read EverQuestpatchme and it still patched.

monrezz i am unsure where i should put in the quotation marks or put them in at all which i think is the case.

i'm sorry i am so computer illiterate but thanks alot for your help. i would really appreciate further help here. thanks

1.You should have a shortcut on your desktop which looks a little bit like a shield with EQ on it. :D

2.Right click it and select properties.

3.The "Target" field (the one with your EverQuest directory) should have something like this in it:

"C:\Program Files\EverQuest\EverQuest.exe"

This means it will run the EQ patcher for you when you click on the shortcut. The patcher then has a link to start EQ in it. (EverQuest.exe is Verants patcher, not the EQ executable)

4.So in the target field put this (get quotes in right places!):

"C:\Program Files\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme

Now when you double click the shortcut it tells it to go straight into EverQuest, without running the patcher first.

5.Click Apply, then OK to close the window.

Hope this helps!

ok i am getting frustrated

i got to the target thing and i put it in but then when i hit apply it said

The name 'C:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe patchme' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct.

i tryed with patch me out of the quotes the only way it works is if the end is EverQuest.exe

any ideas wat i am doing wrong now? sorry for the trouble

i had the same prob for a while :-) COPY AND PASTE THIS EXACT THING INTO YOUR TARGET BOX

"C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme

EVEN WITH THE QUOTES

this should work :-)

Well, that will only work if his EverQuest folder is
C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\

rreaper:

Go into My Computer, C:\, Program Files and have a look in there.
There should be a folder called "EverQuest", "Sony", "Sony Online Entertainment" or something along those lines. For \Everquest use:

"C:\Program Files\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme

For Sony use:

"C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme

For Sony Online Entertainment use:

"C:\Program Files\Sony Online Entertainment\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme

This should work. If one doesn't work when you hit apply try another.
