Evertorn, reborn...
The Evertorn server will be an accelerated server with a unique storyline, as well as a complete revamp of items, tradeskills, server specific quests, all custom content, and a host of special surprises that will be announced as the server advances in the development process.
The Evertorn folks knew is no more, it's being completely rebuilt from the ground up. Though some basic ideas will remain, much of the server will be fresh and new as compared to what Evertorn was once becoming - a poor attempt at a special legit server where races started in Freeport.
That is no more, though there will be a single starting point at the release of the server - more will become available as players advance through content and free up zones from the reign of the hordes of monsters you will encounter. Other features will include, but not limited to:
1. Buffing NPCs that will buff players to assist in their hunting - this is something being kept from the original plan.
2. Zonewide loot drops - most zones will be of specific levels, and as such, will in addition to the named monsters, have random treasure drops most creatures in the zone can drop.
3. Rare named and 100% named. A breakdown of the two is that rare named will be much like the "named" spawns you are familiar with from EQLive - they will have placeholders, and will drop treasure every time they spawn. 100% named however, will always be up, with no placeholder. These named will drop treasure randomly.
4. Droves of quests to help increase the rate players gain exp, in some cases, items will reward the player with a new level status, not just an experience amount.
5. Quests that fully utilize the flexability of the new EQEmu quest system. You will see many quests that give out random rewards, some of varying quality - but all balanced to be worthwhile for the level of the quest. Of course, there will always be the chance that a player will get an item they may not be able to use from these types of quests, so all items gained through these quests will be droppable so that players may trade with each other.
6. Fullscale tradeskills - there will be a host of recipes for each skill, many more being added, or discovered if you will, as the content is explored fully. Some will even affect how a zone is balanced, and will decide the sway of power from a zone being overrun by monsters, and a newly secured safehaven for players to sell their goods, bind, buy goods, and many other things.
7. Everchanging content; the players of the server dictate when a zone, or region changes due to actions. Some mobs will be considered leaders of regimes in a zone, when killed, the area will open up for a brief period of time before a new set of creatures populates the zone.
These are the basic features being worked on now, with more being announced at later dates. As of this post, the server is in early stages of development, and anyone interested in joining the team or possibly interested in hosting the server, please contact me in IRC in the #evertorn chat.
