HELP PLEASE !! Cant even get patcher started!!

ok when i click on the eqemu patcher a window installer screen pops up and says ERROR there is no path found to access this blah blah blah please specify the correct path ... i had just got off last night, and today tried to get back on then that happened, i delted it, tried re-installing it but when i get to installing it the same message pops up before it installs the patcher... i had deleted everything went on eqemu and downloaded another patcher from a different location that than the original did the exact same thing when i tried to download it again PLEASE HELP please email me also if you have any suggestions or just dont want to post, Yoyo2002@bellsouth.net thanks

Ok, do you have the patcher installed to your EverQuest directory and NOT EverQuest\patcher? A lot of people do that because it's the reccomended path. If it's in it's own directory it can't see the files to patch, it needs to be in the game directory.

Yes i have patcher installed in my copy of eq folder on the desktop i have the current release of the patcher, have mdac downloaded as well, am currently using windows 98 and bellsouth ISP hehe just some specifics of the case. Still cant get it to work, says windows installer is unable to locate this pathway and cancels it, even when i try to click on the re download thing and do it , cancels it, havent been able to get on in the last 2 weeks cause of this please email me or post some info if you have any, am currently re downloading the ENTIRE thing, copied eq directory, emu patch copying eqtext stuff again... everything

ok whenever i redownloaded the patcher and when i clicked on the path to download it to - the copied eq folder on desktop, the hard drives makes like its scanning on 0% of the installation , a window pops up and says this

FEATURE TRANSFER ERROR
Error: 1612 the installation source for this product is not available, verify that the source exists and that you can access it. cant even get the patcher downloaded.

Did you install the MDAC 2.7 SP1 ?

If not - http://www.eqemu.net/patcher/mdac_typ.exe

I had the same error and downloaded that and it fixed it :)

GAAAHHHHH dammit please someone help me figure this out, have downloaded the latest version of MDAC am using windows 98 , i had eqemu working fine one day and then tried to get back on and it says windows installer cant find teh path blah blah blah, i cant re install it because it says error 1016 or something like that cant find the specific path to this , im saving in eq directory cant even get the eqemu patcher downloaded this is like my 5th post on here PLEASE ANYTHING just email me any help please!!

Now, it seems your complaining that the patcher will not install, AND that you can't save the patcher-installer your trying to download.... These aren't common errors and sugest that you have something going wrong at the OS level.

You have to be specific, name files, list errors as they apear, list paths. Remember we can't see your screen, and have no way to tell if your on a totally different page than the rest of us.

Also I've seen it said many times that people have DOWNLOADED mdac_ytp.exe But they never say they actually RAN the file to install it. Make sure you ran mdac_typ.exe :)




First reboot your computer so you start out fresh.

If the patcher is installed, try running it. Unless everything worked fine, STOP and report what happened.

Otherwise try playing EQEmu. If anything goes wrong, STOP and report what happened.

Continue like that till you get it working. This is also a lot easier, and faster if you ask for help on IRC. Both sides get fast feedback and clarification that way.



Also it helps a LOT if problems are kept to 1 post so they are easier to track what happend. Don't start more posts.

I'm getting the error 1612 as well. and the mdac file didnt help it. It sounds to me like the emu installer is trying to access my A drive, even though i tell it to go to the eq dir.

I suggest you reboot, redownload the patcher, and reinstall it.

k well ive finally gotten into guildwars. but im still plagued with the bug that wont let u play ur first/main char.
what i did was- just dont install the eqemu patcher.
just change the eqhost.txt file to:

}

"eqlogin1.eqemu.net:5999"
"eqlogin2.eqemu.net:5999"
"eqlogin3.eqemu.net:5999"

then use the eqwindows or eqgame.exe (i had to use eqw because the eqgame.exe kept telling me to use everquest.exe, which will repatch, and override my eqhost file)

from there it should work, it did for me. well thus far it has :)
