I'm sure there are lots who do and do not want a legit server. Guild Wars is legit but it's also pre kunark. I heard FH is going legit and i thought i would explain how i would set it up(in a very small way).

The one thing i like aobut non legit servers is summonining items and getting to 60 or 65 real fast; but after a while that gets boring. One way i would handle this area would be to either allow us to summon any item that is NOT level required OR no drop. Also you could prevent potions and other items that would make us over powerd from being summoned.

The one thing i would like about this idea is that it would feel just like going to bazaar and twinking up a newb just like real EQ.

If you dont like that idea you could do something like start everyone at 50 or just start us at level one and make all the mobs have VERY nice random drops, hell with 100% random drops off any mob you might actualy see a economy of item trading, of course make some items really rare.

These are just my opinions, for me, since i have a level 58 in real EQ i see no need in starting the level grind all over again butt naked and looting bat wings and bug eyes to sell for 1 silver.

Thoughts?

Some people run "accelerated" servers so that you don't have to work so hard to get uber. Look for those.

I like the not summoning no drop idea but that would be very hard to implement. I would like to just have a moderate twink at start back at 20 - 25 or so... Go hunt in ill omen with two or three other people and just chill...

Not sure how much lag this would cause, but how about setting up merchants in Bazaar that sell most items in the game? Sure, summoning items is easier, but that just destroys the point of a legit server :D Having merchants sell items would be just like going to bazaar in EQLive

The max number of items that a single merchant could sell is 80, and that list is looked up everytime someone clicks a merchant. Besides bogging down your sql server with all the requests, to include most of the items in the game it would take 250 merchants with 80 items each. (Assuming 20000 items, dbs can only hold 32600 items because the client deletes items over 32600).

on the term Legit or non-Legit ......

I think people can do what they want with their server ....

The main principle of RPG was to be free ... and to give players a max of fun ....

(sorry for my english ...)

I played EQlive for 2 years .... wiz 59, Monk 55 .....

but the fun part was also to create a character .... and discover a new world with friends....

Raids was the reason I quit EQ .... 10 hours ..... 1 mob ..... 2 Ubber Items .... waouh ....

got the new sword +101 ...... after 254 raids .... much better than the sword + 100 i had ...... and all no drop of course !

that's shit !

..... running a game ... with 4 or 5 friends ...... and sharing all stuff to make each member more efficient .... that's the way of RPG ....

instead ..... you look like Bush on Irak !

That would be alot of merchants, but they wouldn't sell no drop items, just mainly common equipment, maybe just pick like 1000 items to have merchants sell there, the rest the players have to earn by killing mobs.
