Yes, the patchserver is down. I guess you should have made a backup of the eq dir. Getting it back up isn't a top priority, so it might take a few days.

without the patchserver, can I still use this "emulator"? or do I have to wait till you get it back up and running.

Yes, so long as you are using a version of eq that you havent patched to live since the last time you used the emulator.

The patcher was meant to patch a copy of Everquest for use with the eqemu once, it was not meant to be used as a permanent patch switcher between EQLIVE and EQEMU.

I warned everyone a month or more ago that something just like this could potentially happen.

The only safe way to play on the eqemu and not worry about something happening is to use 2 seperate EQ versions, one patched for live, and one you patch ONE TIME ONLY to work with eqemu.

The patcher is only necessary once, to patch an existing eq version to the eqemu version. After that, you never need to use it again.

download zip file from
(some mod thought putting up a fucking disgusting link would be cute) and unzip into eq folder overwriting files when it asks and you can then run the emulator. A buddy (thanks hitman!) gave me the file because I had patched eqlive and forgot to make a backup! Worked like a charm :)

hondamd, that link is warez. Remove it or risk being banned.

I'm the messenger, not the banning party... Trust me; edit it out.

how is it warez to post the files that you download with emu patcher... almost makes good sense
Guess everyone will have to just wait for patcher to come back up instead of a having a simple way to get emu running.

If the guys running the site wanted them posted, they would have posted them.

If they were sorry that the server was down and wanted to post them, they'd post them.

Hogie just said "It's down. Won't fix it soon. Sorry."

I think that's a hint to just deal with what you have. He might not be able to endorse that. Just don't put it on the site - let him do it if it belongs here.
