This is my first test release, based on Drawdes DB.
Only 4 zones so far , check it out and give feedback (too fast, too slow......) , I'm getting more zones ready and will have an updated version in a few days. The moving zones are west commons, east commons, north qeynos, and qeynos hills.
I'm including the EXE's I have been using , they are stable and aggro is working. (Note: the DB is complete , just add account and character info)

Well, seems i can't add attachments right now, I'll try later.
ARRRGGG!!!! still won't let me add attachment :(

Heres a mirror of the files released on 15/4/03

The first link in your post is wrong, but other than that, awesome work!! I played around in East Commons for a while and the moving mobs are just awesome! Very nice work!!

I would love to see you work, but I am having no luck with either or your links. Just looking forward to giving this version a spin.

Thanks,

Wow, even better than before!!! I hope Drawde can keep this stuff included when he releases his updates! Or at least we can export/import this into any updates. This is some awesome work! Keep it up!

Btw, if you do work with grids, please dont use 1-4. These are reserved for the boats I added to the next version of the emu.

Just send Drawde a note and ask him if he can incorporate them into his databases. He's a great fellow, I doubt he would mind a bit.

I started my grids at 1000 , so should be plenty of room for grids before these :)

I'll load it up on Paranor tonight and give it a shot. Sounds like you've done a great job with it !

You didnt happen to flesh out the newbie zones a bit more have you? I've noticed that most of them are a little dry on 'filler' material...

tcsmyworld
04-15-2003, 02:12 AM
I'm just activating movement in the zones , but that makes a world of difference in newbie zones, they walk right up on you in the middle of a fight , gets interesting :)
Hope to have 2nd line in a couple days , and should have some more updates soon.
Let me know what zones you'd like activated (preferebly populated in Drawdes DB) and I'll work on those.
There are a couple zones with some wild waypoints, still trying to find them , but for the most part , it's very playable.

Trumpcard
04-15-2003, 02:18 AM
My 1st requests would be all newbie zone areas (Field of Bone, Everfrost, Misty, the freports, qeynos hills, innothule, etc.) , then the outlying areas. Most of those I think you've done, but I havent checked for sure yet.

Then would be the karanas, and the various remaining old world zones.

I'd like to see the old world zones 1st + the Luclin newbie zone, then Kurnark. Since those are my favorite 2... (Dont care much for Velious).

Just my 2 cents. I think starting at the low level areas and working up makes sense...

Very nice to see a pathing db starting to form. I'll see about trying to incorporate some of it into the Evertorn DB to give it a test on the waypoints and pauses and such.

Here's the 5 you mentioned in post Trump (link on 1st post updated with new zones).
I really don't know all the starting and newbie zones , I only played EQ Live for about 2 months total :)
But............
If you could make me a list of the newbie and starting areas , I'd be glad to get them moving A.S.A.P. , the movement adds so much more to the game .

Is this an add on or do I have to dump my old database? Whichever it is good job on it. Bringing Emu one step closer to reality  .

Just dump your accounts and chars and faction_values from old DB
create new DB source the .sql file in zip , source in your dumps and go :)

It would be great to have them on a stable D\L , my dial-up isn't the best :)
Not sure e-mail will allow it as attachment tho , almost 2.2 mb in zip for the DB , and I'm sure it will hit near 3 mb before it's done.
If it's not a bother , you could D\L them from my links and post links to your mirror.
I can try the e-mail , but i think it's got a 2 mb limit on attachments.

tcs, like Trump said, you should ask Drawde to merge in your waypoints. He and Telmet have awesome DBs at the moment, and I bet they would be very excited to be able to add these in.

tcsmyworld
04-16-2003, 03:33 AM
This DB isn't compatible with Telmets DB, all the npc ID's are different.
As for merging it into Drawdes DB , I think it might be better to wait until I get a few more of the Z's fixed before we try to merge it , might be easier to debug, as drawdes DB runs very smoothly as is, and the addition of movement makes it tough to pinpoint where an npc is supposed to originate.
Don't get me wrong , I'd love to have this incorporated into the DB's , but this is very early stages , and still needs ALOT of polishing.

moonphoenix
04-16-2003, 05:25 AM
I've loaded it onto my server (Accidently dropped my main database in the progress, $#*#**$ hangover!,my appologies anybody who created an character in the last week. Public floggings will be available on request )

But anyway its running my own merged version of Telmets & Drawds database, just the npcs exclusive to Telmets database don't move. Still it fills out the newb zones a little more :-)

I've only found one problem a lot of NPCs tend to hop up and down while moving, kinda amusing if the idea of hopping orcs is your sort of thing

[edit]
Its back on my server again, after fixing my database, one of the tables had somehow become corrupt. Easily fixed :-)

Trumpcard
04-16-2003, 06:11 AM
Yea, he mentioned he was working on fixing the z-axis for alot of the mobs, I think that would clear it up..

I'm quite new here so this might be my ignorance. I have tried both your drdb1.sql and this db and it works amazingly well, however, many of the NPCs/mobs are stuck to the wall and quite a few are untargetable (out of range when you click on them).

Have I done something wrong or is this the way it is right now?

Thanks,
VetoEQ

(BTW: of course I did dump of char/account, drop, source new db fresh)

Yep afraid thats how it is at the moment, Im sure tcsmyworld will improve on it greatly in future realease. As I'm aware it's still in very early stages.

Thanks for the reply Moon. I'm cool with that, maybe I can even help move them. I wanted to make sure that I wasn't the kid with the mobs on the wall and everyone else had them working perfect =p

The npc's grouped on walls and such , are the ones whose "Z" coordinates is wrong.
I'm working on that now , but could use help if people would like to get me the npc type (i.e. orc pawn , orc warrior, etc...) and where you were at the time , including "Z" coordinates so I can incorporate some more waypoints to smooth out pathing and try to get the npc Z's closer to what they should be.
I have more zones moving, but am going to wat till I get the first couple releases worth of npc's running a bit smoother before I release them , hope you all enjoy this so far , will be updates soon.
Takes a while to get these figured out in a few of the zones :)

:?:

So I am using a DB already(and you may have answered this but I am dense. I did read the post yaaaayyyy!)

Is this an addon?

Can i source this into my existing db?

or do I have to start over? (which I dont mind doing...)

Will I be able to have those few zones with moving npc's and sill
have the non-moving ones in all the other zones????

ORRRRRR.....

If I just start over and use only this database, do I have to use any other? to get what Im looking for??????

am i asking too many questions???

(oh darn i've gone cross-eyed...)

tcsmyworld
04-24-2003, 01:24 PM
It would be easiest to just resource this DB, add character info, and run it.
It already has all the DB updates included to run with the 0441 exe's.
If you use the EXE's that are in the link , the aggro, npc casting and pathing in 17 zones are functional.
Plus, if you grab Drawdes Quests0.1 (newest one), the quests work also.
Bear in mind this is an alpha release , alot of npc Z's are off , and it's a bit buggy in a few zones.
But all in all it's not too bad , and it's kinda fun to have a 1/2 dozen npcs wander up and attack you out of the blue :)
It's an "in the works " project, updates will come as fast as I can get the zones cleaned up and get the npcs starting Z's corrected and waypoints added to correct some of the "walking thru walls and trees action" so it plays out a little better.
Any feedback is welcomed , any help appreciated :)

Glad you like it ednecro, give a big hand to Drawde for his awesome DB and npc enhancemants, his stuff makes it all worth doing.
The next updates may be awhile in coming , but should be a whole lot smoother :)

I do want to give credit where credit is due. I wish I knew more about working with sql or I could try and offer some help. But I am sure every newbie would agree that you guys are the bomb for sharing these with us. And it looks like all of your hard work is paying off. I wish there was more I could do to help all you guys. What funny is even on eq live i still make my same dumb warrior , and run around in the same old zones. I honestly have just as much fun playing on a local emu setup as i do soloing in eqlive if not more fun because I get to play GM. (kind of like pretending to be MVP of the year in your backyard...)

I am about 3 weeks away from broadband, and I will be building a smokin machine. Perhaps I can help by adding a server to the public list. Not really sure what all is involved with that.

So once again I slobber my praises onto the board, for the dev team and you folks who put together these ruling DB's, someday I will find a more substantial way to give back to the community here. :D

I just ran this database today and was quite happy to see faction working. that has been my primary problem as of late. I am not sure yet if the moving mobs will replace my allmost complete databse yet but it was fun to test. I did have a scary situation when I zoned into befallen at level 8 and found myself knee deep in agro on the bottom floor, needless to say I had to work on some of your zone points :)

This is very nice work and I think it is great to see everyone working together on a common goal. I say that because I am curently watching the progress of the closest DAoC emulator being worked on and they are doing the work alone and keeping the source private. which is making it a long process.

EQEMU has been lots of fun to work on and has also had much cooperation. Keep up the excellant work.

I finally got this to work :D

I now see a few mobs moving and the NPC casting spells is nice to see but a few questions for ya.

I only see a few mobs moving on there own but not one single npc is moving.

Also the mobs seems to have a 'rubber band' effect when they are moving.

Is this normal? for the rubber band effect and for no NPCs to move or have I done something wrong? Be nice to have some newbie read me files with all these excellent add-ons ;)

tcsmyworld
05-05-2003, 06:52 AM
This is actually a work in progress, not all zones are set up, and not all the npc's in the "moving" zones are set to move.
I'm working on correcting the starting Z's and adding waypoints to try to smooth out the movement, but my time right now is very limited as my wife has just undergone a major cancer surgery and I am dedicating as much time as I can to being with her in the hospital.
I hope to have some finished zones ready for release in the near future, it's been kinda hard for me to work on it a lot as I've been staying with relatives near the hospital , and I don't have all my "toys" with me.
Please bear with me and hopefully I can get us some real smooth movement going in the next week or 2.

I recently updated my database to the latest one from Drawde, changed out the exe's with 4.3's for the aggro, sourced in the plane of fire update, and sourced in the npccasting update. I want to put the npcmoving update in also, but this looks like an entire database. What sections would I need to pull out and source just to add the moving mobs component out of this?

tcsmyworld, I hope everything is ok for you and your wife. Your family is in our thoughts...

bpoque99,
I believe you only need to use the grid and spawn2 sections.
I haven't had time to look at the new spawn2 , but if it hasn't changed except for more added to it, you could dump the spawn2 and use "REPLACE INTO" instead of "INSERT INTO" when you source it to get past the errors.

BTW, the exe's I posted "stable0441_exes" have working aggro and npc spellcasting.

can D/L them here -
http://eqemu.clanofemu.com/stable0441exes.zip

Thanks to all who sent thier prayers, we are still having a few rough spots in my wifes recovery, been back into hospital a few times since sugery , but looking better all the time.
I hope to get back to my machine at home soon and get back to work on the DB, looking forward to seeing all the new additions :)

bpogue99
06-08-2003, 09:48 AM
Welp, the grid entries are easy to source in as there's no conflicts at all. But the spawn table was more difficult because it changes, and probably will change, more often. The best I could figure to do was change the spawn2 entries to:

update spawn2 set pathgrid='path#' where (zone='zone' and x='x' and y='y');

This updated a slew of the entries but still missed maybe 10%. But that's better than zero <g>. Definitely though this means that Drawde has to put this stuff into his database in order to keep the right spawns associated with the right grids.

Dont take this the wrong way i made a new database call eq1 everthing install very well and it load up i made a SK dark elf in nerk and some kinda of loin kept on killing me and there are no doors and alot of npc where in the worng spot i mean like humans in a dark elf city and there was a few mobs. i tried making a char in freeport but all 12 of my zones crashed and locked up that computer i am not say it sucks or anything like just a few problem i think you should look at befor the nexted update or when ever if i can take a screen shot i will show you :)

Have you loaded Drawde's DB and gone to the same place and looked around?
If you have, and the same things aren't there , then you must have mixed something up, because all that this is, is Drawde's DB with movement added.
I have not added or deleted anything from it.
It's based on Drawde's 1.1 beta 5.

I just added these database files but am having problems. I logged in to Lesser Faydark just fine but not much movement there. I then tried Gating to Greater Faydark and am now not able to get into the game with that char. It keeps booting me back to the server screen. Am getting opcode errors in world.exe and the zone.exe's that are trying to connect to gfaydark.

I hope I can figure out how to use this one, would love moving npcs. Now if I can only find a talking npc database.

use the new 44exe release. update the DB with the supplied files, set your default player status to 0.
you should then be able to get into greater faydark, and have aggro.

The "quests0.1" file works, but you need to add quotes around several commands and spell ID's to make it happen.
