Hello everybody. I have pondered this very question oh so much. I have a suggestion for the dev team that I hope would be considered. I would love for the title of "newbie" to be lifted after, oh say the 50th post from a user. I think this would add an extreme amount of functionality and overall fun to the EQEmu project. I am hoping that with a little thought, this idea can become a truly amazing feature in the EQEmu project. I hope you will consider this suggestion.

.............er......heh.......heh....heh....

BLAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAAA!

Sorry dude, but someone who has concern over the title they have when they get to a certain amount of posts needs to think their...let me find a nice way to put this...erm.... *strategy*!

And to truly address your post...I don't consider someone out of newbie-dom until they've level to 46 in Everquest Live. And thats a hell of a bigger accomplishment than posting... BAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHA... sorry... 50 times on a message board.

My... HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA... 2..*suppresses laugh* cents. =)

umm saying someone in EQ Live is a newbie until lvl 46 is very untrue. I have played EQ Live since late 1999 (November 4th to be exact) and I have had a character since that date and he is my highest character yet and he is level 38 now. I know eq thru and thru (except the highest level content) and to call someone a newbie before they reach 46 is not good. Lets say someone bought an account over ebay or somthing. Theyd have no clue about everquest yet be level 65 with twinked out gear. My point proven ONCE again.

/agree BLOOD_kane

I played EQ since it came out, got to level 52, but it took a long ass time mainly because I liked helping/PLing friends and such. I also have played every class there is to play, hehe.

5 discolored butts? hmmm, you might wanna go to the doctor for that one, sounds kinda.....strange....

If you've been playing for like 4 years why is your highest lvl 38? It says something.

Man at 38 you dont know anything aobut EQ execpt what you've read. Thers a big differnce in reading about the kael plate cycel and fighting in it. You have zero experince with summoning mobs, you're jsut now able(depends on class) to kill the WC druids(old staple of xp and platt)

Dude, you aint seen ANY of eqlive, you are a newb, sorry.

Remember, reading aoubt something in EQ does not count as experince. And i base all my statements on the things i know you can and cant do at 38.

Yes, it does say something. It says he likes to either travel alot in the game (which I do, there is more to the game than just leveling), or he likes helping friends and other players like I did. There are also quests (hmmm, really? everQUEST) which do take time to do. I had a character to level 10 in 4 weeks, why? Because there is a thing called Newbie Armor Quests, they take time to do if you do them yourself. If you never do quests and just level, your the one who don't know much about EQ except maybe hitting the "a" key, and clicking on spell icons. There are thousands upon thousands of Quests, they are there for a reason. Just remember the name of EverQUEST, not everLEVEL.

In other words: The true newbies are the ones that go in there and just level, they know NOTHING about quests except maybe their epic. This game was made for questing AND (not or) leveling. Leveling is there so you can do the higher lvl quests. Think about it. Plane raids? They are quests, you go there for a purpose, to get planar armor or to help with an epic. Hey, epics? Ain't that a QUEST? People that don't do quests probably don't know the EQ storyline. Does anyone know the story of Unrest? How about the Qeynos Guards? Do some quests, you might like em.

I agree there.. My best friend has been playing for 3 years, I quit, he's still playing, and his paladin just hit 42nd level. I bet you he can outplay damn near anyone on these boards , he knows tactics, quests, everything inside and out. He puts a ton of time, but he enjoys helping people out, exploring, etc, and the only time Ive ever seen him grind for exp was when me and him were trying to break 20 to remove our damage caps..lol... He's one of the few people I know that play the game the RIGHT way, he plays it for the thrill of adventure, comradeship, and quests. It's the newb's if you ask me that think if you're not 65 level, its shit.

Level is not an indication of ability, I know alot of people that have purchased high level characters, and couldnt play it worth a shit. Most of us have had experiences with necros/druids/clerics/shamans that couldnt play their class worth a damn, and it was obvious. Also, a monkey can chaincast, so just because a person has made a higher level doesnt indicate anything other than they've sat their ass in front of the computer for an insane amount of time...LOL....

So, my advice is to balance your comments with a little thought into the fact that not everyone plays eq the same way, and the mad dash to 65 may be fun for some, but retarded to others (myself included)

I didnt really care about EQ after level 35-40.. thats when it became evercamp, or equipmentquest, because thats really all it felt like.

The one that gets me is my friend who introduced me to eq, he's been playing forever now.. He sits around for HOURS and HOURS at a time on raids, to get an item that gives him 2 more AC, and thats all he does...

But, he enjoys it so who the hell am I to begrudge him for it?

I hear ya, thats the reason I quit my 52 druid. He also just got boring, I think its much funner in the lower lvls (below 30). There is just so much to do.

saying i dont know shit about eq over a 4 year period? you my friend are the biggest jackass i ever met pertaining to eq. I am far from a newb. I bet I know more about EQ than you will ever know unless you belong to those stupid stay on eq 23 hours of the day guilds and have no life. See to me EQ now is kinda boring...there is TOO many things out there to get and if you arent high level or dont have the uber equipment youre a newb or a loser...get a life. I actually liked playing my characters not racing to get to 65 so i can raid the same old bullish again. I only have 3 characters i play on eq live. a 38 warrior, a 27 druid and a lvl 8 cleric. Each time I go to different spots to level and exp because its variety. For my warrior i did misty until 14, oasis until 20, South karana until 30, Highkeep until 37 and now im in DSP, my druid i did North Ro, Highpass/East Karana, South Karana, Lake Rathetear and now Highkeep until 30, my cleric innothule so far but im moving him to other spots soon. So yes i may not have the best gear or highest levels but i have been with eq for almost 4 years. So calling me a newb is stupid on your part

hehe, that reminds me ALOT of Diablo2, if you didn't have hacked equipment you were a newb. Now I wonder who the newbs are, all the hackers got banned *chuckles* *laughs* *rolls on floor laughing* You are right though, I had pretty "so called crappy" items on my 52 druid, I got called newb a few times.

Right, Diablo II is old now, it's boring and hacked items are still available on it. Sojs became worthless etc.. etc..
Too many scammers in that game these desprit little boyz trying to have nothing but the best so I quit playing. :?
I was never called a newb/n00b/newbie on Diablo II though, even if I started a new character. I just dissed other players, haha.

I dunno. I've been playing eq fairly regularly for almost 3 years now, and still mostly consider myself a newb.

There are areas I know quite well, and things I am utterly clueless about. My highest live char is 36 or so, but I have likely raised more baby trolls to 10 than anyone else playing the game.

I've taken 4 different classes to 30, but never been able to convince myself to level far beyond that. The game just becomes annoying to me after that point.

I am also obsessed with new servers -- I love the mad rush of nekkid trolls trying to claw their way out of the swamp... (I was the very first person to ever kill Forager Grik on Tholuxe :P ) That magic couple of weeks where sand giants overrun oasis because no one can kill them...

anyhoo, I reallllllly like having the emu servers, because it allows me to visit and poke around some of the high level content that I would have never gotten to see on a live server. For me, GuildWars is very near perfect EQ for me. Levelling is easy enough that I don't get bored out of my skull... you can actually do something after level 30 without begging for groups/buffs. And PvP just rounds out the picture perfectly.

eh. this was longer than I wanted. I really just wanted to say, who gives a shit if you are a newb or not, as long as you're having fun????
