Okay, what I'm understanding is that, if you're using WinXP, you're screwed. To me, this sucks hairy balls, and you guys are losin lots of ppl with new comps. I ain't gonna install a new windows just to play this. This is Bullshit. I need an answer, and I need it now.
I think I went a lil far... Ahem...
Eh... What I mean to say is, I think it's not right that XP players can't play. It sucks ASS!!!! I just wanna know if there is a solve...

We were wrong assuming it was Win XP. More people who use it have problems. So, what's the problem now?
And anyway, why do we need people with new comps?? We need more developers.

The problem is, most NEW computers have XP installed. But, since you say that that's not the problem, then I don't know what is. I'm getting 1017, and I dunno why. Don't gimme mumbo-jumbo about looking at all the posts. I have. First thing I did. I just don't understand. I know I prolly sound like a pain in the ass, but I really wanna use this. I think it's really cool, but I just can't friggin figure it out! :( :worship:

Okay, sorry about demands... Heh, I just have this fuse that burns whenever I get angry... And I'm not angry at anyone but my STUPID TOASTER THAT SCREWED MY BREAD!!! AGGHHH!!!
Riiight.... anyway....
Okay, I run EQ patcher, don't have any new files, change EQHost, then get into server screen, about to load the server, then I get 1017.... It royally pisses me off. I wanna play sooooooo bad!!! >.<

Did you try a few other servers? Some players seem to get 1017 when they try to get on my server (my computer sucks, hehe), yet they can still get on other servers.

Wait, EQLive? What the heck is that???

Wait, EQLive? What the heck is that???
EQLive is Sony's Servers. Run the Patcher that comes with EverQuest to update your EQ to current, then run the emu patcher. I believe its eqgame.exe or everquest.exe, one of em :P

Okay, Okay, wait. I know about Sony's patcher, but there's an EMU PATCHER as well???? Where do I get this?

Install it into your EQ directory that you use for Emu. If you happen to play on Sony's Servers as well, I would highly recommend making 2 EQ folders, 1 for emu and 1 for sony's.

I do have 2 folders... So this Emu patcher, what does it do?
Hardy

Says goodbye to the 1017 error. Sony's patched messed up the emu, the emu currently does not work with the new LoY expansion, nor a few patches. This will get you the correct files so you can play on the emu. For once, you don't have to blame windows, lol.

I thought you said you read the forums!!
Anyway, you should be able to play if you just install the patcher program slowly, read all of the instructions, install it into your eqemu folder (a copy of everquest you will use for eqemu) and let it patch.
That's all it takes.

I did, but if you had read my other posts, you woul've heard me say:
"I am the poster child for CADD (Cyber Attention Dephisate Disorder)"
The 13 cups of coffee I drank to read all the posts didn't help, either...

Which is just a fancy way of saying you were too lazy to pay attention to what was there.
There is no difference between not reading the forums and clicking the links but ignoring the content. Your problem has been covered many many times in many many posts. Clogging the forums because you want someone to hold your hand is about as selfish as I'm being right now(i.e. clogging the forums to vent my resentment)
Oh well.

So , with what was said about XP and the live server patches, ect, Im curious, cause im about to do an install fresh of EQ onto a winxp comp, Im just wondering, seeings as the thread is up, Should i even bother patching from EQ live to get an up to date patch file list, or should i just run patch from EMU patcher?
(got the impression from previous posts that running live patcher right now, will nuke any chance at loading EMU)

Yes, patch EQLive fully, and then use the EQEmu patcher.

Sorry .. I'm an old fart, and come from a time when we had "Dick and Jane" books to learn how to read.
I have returned to the world of EQ only recently. (as in yesterday) I loaded the CD's (all exapansions - excluding POP). I patched it all up to date including LOY files et al.
I copied the Everquest folder and renamed it EqEmu. There I installed the EQEmu patcher. I tried running the patcher several times, and it comes up with an error and the words "Can't find Patchsrv.dat".
Someone here states you "need to run EQLive patch then EQEmu patcher". I have done this and the file patchsrv.dat does not get created anywhere, in the eqemu folder or the everquest folder. When I patched EQLive in the eqemu folde, all that happend was my altered eqhost.txt file got replaced.
I am using EQW and am pointing to the EQEmu folder and get to the server selection screen (at EQEMU) but get error 1017 no matter what server I try to connect to.
I am running Windows XP Pro (which some seem to say is, and other say is not an issue). I have an ADSL connection connected to a Linksys router which connects the remainder of my home network)
Is this router an issue? .. is there some port I should be opening? I am obviously capable of communicating with the login servers.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated, including how I am to get this patchsrv.dat file to load or be created in my folder.
How is this eqemu patcher supposed to be involved in running eq? Do I run EQW and have it run c:\...\eqemu\eqemu patcher, instead of eqgame.exe?

This has been posted a ton of times, and answered a few. They have said that is it your ISP, that is why you get that error, its not downloading all of the files. Someone downloaded it, got that error, he tried numorous times, then he switched over to AOL, and it worked. I am not sure when it will be fixed, but hopefully it will (or can) be.

I have actually read a "ton" of stuff and observed some of the "answers".
I have set up eqemu to run on one of my computers. I have succesfully run Minilogon.exe, World.exe and the zones.
I connect to the login server from a different computer in my LAN. I log on, and I can see the server select screen with my server. I attempt to connect to that server and I get a "1017" error. Since ALL events are occurring within my own LAN on internal IP's 192.168.1.XXX, I don't see how Telus (my ISP) has interfered in this situation. Although I am more than willing to lay blame for most worldly ills at Telus' door step, they may be innocent in this.

That patchsrv.dat file you described - that's downloaded from a site using eqemu patcher. If it doesn't download, there is an ISP problem. You didn't finish the patch.
While this may not seem to affect your internal network, it has everything to do with your 1017 error. Your server requires a version of eqclient that you do not have. Thus, your server will reject you. Patching fails, so you're stuck! It's your ISP. Patch the client on a different ISP. People say AOL works... Might be time to pull a frisbee from the mailbox.

Ok, I got a problem. Ive gotten up to the point where im stuck. I click on "Eqemu Patcher" and an installation thing pops up. It goes fine but then it says...
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'EQemu Patcher.msi' in the box below"
The box says C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\pft3.tmp\ for the file to go into.
Any information on what to do would be greatly appreciated.

Don't get on AOL for the free months, we did and we wanted to cancel (mainly cause they suck big time, who pays $23/month when you can have better for $9?). Anyway, we did it and we called to cancel, they charged us a damn cancelation fee of, guess what, $23. We have destroyed every free CD they sent us, we put about 20 destroyed CD's into an envelope, and sent em back to AOL.

I got a problem with the eqemupatch too. I can't connect to the server. I tried opening all ports, removing my router and going straight through the ADSL modem, but it still give me the message, can't connect to patch server. I installed everything correctly as follwed from the readme, and the eqemu patcher into everquest directory. But the patch.exe will not connect to the server. So i decided to connect and check netstats. It says connection to www.cyberjunky.net established. But the patch does not work. Can the Dev or somebody help me with this?
