Localhost - Error 1017.

Hello.

I installed EQEmu step by step the manual said.

Changed all entries in Boot5Zones.bat, Loginserver, eqhost.txt, to 127.0.0.1 / localhost and created the file MiniLoginAccounts.ini with one entry with my own IP Username PSW.

I am behind an router, if this matter.

If i start Everquest i can log in with a.) eqemu or b.) the Username i wrote into MiniLoginAccounts.ini.

I will get to the server i wrote into Loginserver.

If i now click start everqust, i allways get the 1017 error.

Changing all 127.0.0.1 into localhost, or into the ip of this computer didnt work.

Allways the 1017 error.

I just want an small standalone server where i can login, create an character, twink him out and test some things (dunno if you can test things, like some pull tactics on boss mobs, anyway ;-)..)

I just cant get to the character selection screen ;-)

Anyone have an idea what to do to fix it?

i Created A Server, Others Can Log into it and play just fine (had 15 on at one time woot) but when i try to log on it gives me 1017 error. I can log onto and play on oter servers just fine.

When i check the world.exe console it shows my pc trying to log on several times but no connect. :roll:

Wipe it an repatch. I've noticed a ton of people are having problems with the patching.

What i'm trying now currently is JUST having the everquest.exe file to install eq (not using the installation disks I have) and setting it to do a full files check. And then of course after EQlive updates running the patcher to adjust to eqemu.

I think this may be the best way to do it just to assure you have the correct files.

If it works let me know. It took me 3 times to install and patch EQ correctly in XP for it to work. Only once on my buddies machine. Once I figure out what's the best step by step to get it going i'll probably make a post on the most sure way (even if it does take longer) to have the correct files.

Hi, i too am getting the 1017 error, i reinstalled and patched eq last night, when some friends introduced me to eqemu. I cant get past the server select. i keep getting the 1017 error. if anyone has any solutions i would be much obliged.

ok, i donwloaded the patcher , ran it , it said "missing files ....." like 7 of them. btu then said all files ok for eqemu!, but i still cant get past the server select screen =(......

In all honesty I doubt it has anything to do with the files. I know the 1017 error spouts out that error when it is having trouble with files but most of the XP users having it (myself included on one machine) have all the correct files. It's some sort of networking error. Something like where the login server redirects to the world server something in XP is screwing it up.

I noticed that when you log into miniserver it logs you in once, then disconnects you and logs you in again after you enter your user and pass, I think that might have something to do with it. Just a thought though.

Mines working now, seems newbie me didn't run the correct patcher program. It states in the Howto to run the eq patcher, then the EMU patcher. Somehow I skipped that part. (ya I know I'm a n00b).
