Kay after getting uber frustrated with trying to download the patch on my laptop, which is runing XP, i went on my desktop. Desktop is runing ME, signed onto the same isp i was using on my laptop, and did same thing (patchsrv.dat not found) so rang friend and asked if i could use his aol for a sec, he said ok, so i logged onto aol, hit hte patcher, and it worked strait away, smooth as a whistle. Between hitting the patcher 100 times on my isp, and changing to aol, i did nothing but load up aol.
so thats the conclusion. its your isp, DNS problems or something.
dunno if this has been posted before but just wanted to clear it up

Thanks Duke - we've been saying that for a while, but it's good to have firsthand testimony that it works.

Ive been having the same problem and have tried a different ISP(had a backup one). Unfortunately that ISP goes through the same route to foreverhacking.net and always seem to get stuck at something like proxy1-melbourne.dft.com.au.
So i figured id try the same ISP, but dial a different city so it wouldnt have to go through the above IP. Unfortunately it goes through and gets stuck on a similar one like proxy1-sydney.dtf.com.au.
Seems like Australia doesnt like foreverhacking.net or vice-versa.
I was wondering if anyone else here is from Australia and has gotten it to work?
Im hoping it is possible to be able to get through from Australia, otherwise im moving to USA.
Well, hopefully it wont come to that because in a few months i should be upgrading to cable internet (hooray!), and pray to god that it will work.
