View Full Version : Diablo 2 Server Update, Post any Questions you may have also

*edit* You can scroll down for questions that are answered, and post any that you may have also. I won't be able to get on the boards between friday (or sat) and monday, maybe tuesday.

Not much to update....just with some bad news, not to bad though I guess..... Since I am moving to Colorado next week (damn its coming fast), I am having zero time on the computer, just enough to read through the forums on battle.net and here to answer questions and whatnot. I still only have about 649 items (had like 600 my last update), but that should be enough to test them on a server. Testing might be mighty boring unless one of my helpers could just spawn some temporary mobs, or even use Drawde's spawn table, just until we can work on the real mobs. I just need to fix some of the items, I think I can do that, shouldn't take to long. The server will go up as soon as Scorp gets some errors worked out of the world, he is my serverOP.

I am leaving for Colorado this saturday, and going to stay in Denver until Monday (making a vacation out of it). Then I am driving to Clifton (where I am moving) that Monday and arrive that night. I won't have any access to the internet until Monday after I leave. I am hoping my dad has internet set up in Clifton, he said he has, but he might be talking about his laptop which he takes with him on the truck. I know he has a computer at the house though.

I could use some help on the server, we majorly need people with programming experience (we have none). I want to make this server as close to D2 as the client will allow. Including Gold as currency only (plat, silver, copper taken out), only 6 classes to choose from (haven't really decided, might just do all medium size races w/ all classes), max lvl of being 99 and making levels past 30 a little easier to make it possible to reach 99. Take away all the class name changes that you recieve after you reach 51 (your name don't change in D2 after 51), all the Acts just 1-4 (don't think I will include 5....yet anyway), Classic EQ and Kunark required to play on the server (sorry, but some of the zones in Kunark will make awsome zones from D2), to much more to list, lol. So please, if you are a programmer that can do this type of stuff, please PM me! I would really appreciate it so the server can still be worked on while I am away. Thanks!!!

Hardy I had an idea for your server. Why don't you make everyone start in the same area with 4 or 5 translocators, one for each act, and like act 2 will require you to have an item that you received after beating act 1, etc, etc. I bet you already thought of this though. :) Or you could have everyone start in act 1 and at the end is a translocator to act 2, etc, etc, etc and everyone is bound to the hub which would have translocators to all acts (requiring certain, weightless items to go to certain acts.)

Yep, had that thought, hehe. But not for the translocators, thats an awsome idea :D :D :D I knew I was going to have Diablo drop a couple no drop lore items (so everyone fighting him gets an item) to turn in to get to the next act. And everyone starts outside of Qeynos where the tent is, thats the rogue camp. And we thought about Hell difficulty also, to make it harder, it will make you PvP once you enter Hell. Gotta go, thanks for the suggestion!

Well you could do it like this Translocator - Act 1 - Normal Translocator - Act 1 - Nightmare, etc, and you would have to have the item from the end of Act 5 - Normal to get to Act 1 - Nightmare, etc.

heh you getting your own models for the special monsters ;) how about upping the lvl range to ? since were not gonna be ripping through fields of monsters in the eq engine like in diablo 2 very nice idea though ill be looking forward to getting into your server :) for some good times heh.. also how would you intend on settin up the different transgressions to different difficulty settings ? and class's ? just my thoughts sounds like a sweet idea and if you need any help testing it online ill be more then happy :) :D

2 words, Mirror Zones. Have the same zone, exept change the name. Once you defeat Diablo (or Baale if act 5 does get put in), he will drop a few keys, no drop lore items for all of em. You loot a key, take it to an NPC, he will then transport you to a mirror zone of the first act. Same with nightmare to hell, except the portal will also make you PvP, if you want to go back to nm, you just talk to the NPC and he transports you back, taking away PvP. PvP was an idea by the serverop, and was a good idea indeed to make it a little tougher :D.

Nope, will be using EQ models. A red dragon will probably be Diablo.

The weapons are fairly powerful for the EQ engine. The mobs will have lesser HP and all will attack you on site. You could have over 5 mobs on you at 1 time, but its easy to kill em, just like Diablo. I kinda want a team effort put into this, so the bosses will be tough, good luck if you try and solo em :lol:

Potions? I had a question if I can put in potions, the answer is yes. All I need to do is get a bottle and put an effect on it, like Minor Healing, instant cast. They stack to 20 or so, 1 charge each. I know they don't stack in D2, but you don't have a belt in EQ.
