View Full Version : EQ Graphic Engine not loading

OK, I've got a problem loading up EQ after I choose a server. It crashes back to the desktop after about 3 seconds of showing the loading screen. I noticed that in dbg.txt, there are 2 wad files not loading ( files are GlobalONT_chr.s3d and Global_obj.s3d) and the GlobalONT_chr.s3d isnt in the EQ directory at all. The patch server doesnt have it either. I've tried 3 reinstalls. If it matters, I use winXP Pro with ATI Radeon 9000 1.08gb Ram 950mhz Thunderbird CPU. Has anyone ever seen this problem and is there a solution :?:

Mine loads and works fine but i'm getting a few errors in mine too.

Running at ATI mobility on my new laptop, XP professional. The possible major difference I see between yours and mine is the Global_obj loading. That's probably the key ;). Might want to update your ATI drivers/Directx, or even rollback your ati drivers to something older if they are the brand new ones. That's about all I can think of at this point since you said you've reinstalled and patched and stuff. My buddy has the same VID card as you do and also XP pro. I'll be setting up his client tonight for EQ so if I run across the same error i'll make sure to post it and how I resolve it.

OK, I installed a radeon driver from october 2002 and downloaded global5_chr.s3d.gz from luclin files and global_obj.s3d from the classic files. I figure that it patches the PoP global_obj.s3d, but I noticed the main version was modified in september of 2002 whereas the PoP version was modified in July. Anyways......it works fine. This is a possible fix for anyone who is using only EQ Classic, which alot of people download off of Sony's FTP. Thanks alot!
