Hi all, i'm a long time EQ victim :). Once an addict always an addict. So far the work you guys have done is amazing I must say. I'd like to contribute as much as possible and i'm trying to get a feel for what's done so far and work from there. Most likely i'll build a unique to EQ world. I've read pretty much all the manuals and got it working on XP without to much of a hitch. Once I get a server going I have a gigabit line to use which should be nice. I have a few questions I haven't been able to find though mainly regarding which database.

I've read there's drawb's, one other, and eqemu's database.

1) I'm currently using Drawb's, but I was wondering which database is closest to how EQlive is actually working. I like Drawb's so far with only one major problem that's driving me nuts and since I'm not that familiar with this i haven't been able to find the source. I see other people mentioned the DOT's and that is my issue also. i've only seen it on one DOT so far but it's engulfing darkness. It stuck once and it won't go away. I'm wondering if there's anyway to edit the duration of these spells.

2) I'm currently having a time.cfg issue on world.exe loading up which I know there are posts about it so I won't ask how to fix it. I'm more curious if that would effect the DOT durations if it uses some sort of time ratio based on this file *shrug*.

I think that pretty much covers it. Thanks ahead of time.

Odine, a lot of databases are good, but none are complete. Drawde's continuing work is usually your best bet. He updates it pretty regularly, and his content is very pristine (not too many duplicate spawns, etc.). He's working on a new upgrade, which he will distribute when he's done. As far as dots not working because of time, I don't think they work to begin with :) Lots of stuff needs work. If you look at the developer's forum, there are tons of things to sign up for and fix.

I got ya. Well i'm curious how to remove the DOTS hehe, I tried dispel. I gotta log in and try NUKEBUFFS I think, hopefully that'll work. But on the server you guys run, how is it that it doesn't drive people insane to get one DOT cast on them and it never going away? Or perhaps it's just engulfing darkness being that it has a snare effect.

Is there anyway at all to edit these spells. My expertise are mainly solid to 3dmodelling and networking, but I learn fast so perhaps i'll take yer advise and try resolving some of the issues at hand once i'm more familiar with it.

Thanks.

I've never tried using any DoT so far but I've already had Vexing Mordinia cast on me (lifetap over time, roughly 1.2k dmg over 54 secs). After the end of the DoT's duration it simply poofed as it should, but that could as well be because of the two components of the DoT which are:

-DoT for 1.2k dmg
-Heal over time for the same amount

It could be possible that this DoT wears off whenever the beneficial part of it wears off, making lifetap DoTs the only working DoTs currently.

By the way, it seems that most affliction type spells don't work/work well for the time being (slows don't seem to work, but Malo seems to work). Main focus for the devs at the time being seems however to be to get melee working in a manner as close to EQLive as possible, and that is already a tough thing to do if you don't have insider data...

Wait and see, so far the work done is huge and gets more promising as time passes :).

killspree fixed slows - the code had a sign wrong, I think... He pointed out that it hasted!

It seem's DD's beta 5 release is a little strange in zones. Like Solb or Crushbone. You attack one creature and nearly everything in the zone comes at you.

Is beta 4 more stable in that regard?
