but i can't play i've patched with the lastest version of eq but after the char select screen eq shut down and it kick me to desktop :(

Try setting the color of your desktop to 16 colors along with VideoModeBitsPerPixel=16 in your EQClient.INI

That did it for me and some other people.

I had the same problem for awhile, but finally gave up and just messed around with the mini login and my own server.


On a side note, how are we supposed to utilize the upgrade.sql file?

Im a total SQL noob, and know nothing....any insight would be apreciated

If you crash while logging in or zoning, you're not the only one. Crashing or locking up is a known bug and currently has no fix. some people can get in if thay delete there char, make a new one and try again (in a differant startzone).

ok cool oh ya also the zone for ogres is a lkittle well....dangerous hehe if you die when u get zoned back you fall form the sky and take 10000 dmg :(

How do you want us to set this up, same way the db.sql was set up?

Go to the Bin directory of where you installed Mysql, and load up "Mysql". Type in the following:

mysql> "use eq"
(it says something about the database being changed here)
mysql> "source upgrade.sql"
(MANY lines will start zipping across the screen... and then you're finished :) )

That's what I did, and it worked ok for me.. You get a few hundred or so errors claiming that there was already an entry for line blah blah.. But ignore it.. It's basically saying that it tried to copy/paste, but since there was something already there, didn't bother..

** Make sure to remove the quotation marks from "use eq" and "source ...".. I just tried to replicate what the DOS window looks like :) Oh, and try to remember that upgrade.sql HAS TO BE in the Bin directory before you do this! Heheh

If I, myself, did this wrong.. can someone tell me? :P

This upgrade in the db has made my EQEmu Admin Stop working, prolly cus it doesn't know where to place the new entries in the db.

BTW, I had about a few thousand things saying duplicate, lol!
Oh well, I think it all turned out fine, it added new entries, so I guess the outcome was succesful even though my computer made an annoying beeping sound everytime an error came up.

It beeped with a high pitched annoying noise about 30k times, lol!
