I've looked, and can't seem to find any...

What does it take to run a decent server, hardware-wise?

I would love to run a public server, but I think I'll end up running a private server for my LAN. (I don't think I have the hardware and I KNOW I don't have the bandwidth to support a full use public server.)

Anyone mind shedding some light on this?

I was thinking about running a server on my Linux Box, it's an Athlon 1.4 with 256mb of pc2100ddr.

As far as bandwidth goes, internally we are running gigabit, so that shouldn't be a problem, but I'm on cable, and I just don't see that as being good enough.

Thanks for your time.

It's not so much in your hardware, it's in how you configure it. it's like that with any server. You could easily run an internet server with that hardware, you'd probably need some others for different zones though.
