Server won't pick up at all.

OK I am operating a windows 98 OS on my pc and I am trying to use mini login and I did everything that the instructions said to do. I double checked everything and it is exactly as it said it should be. I am still unable to connect to my server though. I tried seeing if one of the admin tools could log into it to see if my emu setup was wrong, but the tools can't log into the server either so I know it's a server issue with msql. The data base is there, but I did notice that it said in the environments box that driver 3.51 was not found. I also remember seeing somewhere that I didn't have myodbc.dll either. I think it was in the same box, but it isn't saying that about the dll file no more for some reason. Is there I driver I need to download still and if so where do I find it at? Also any other ideas on why it isn't detecting my server at all? The msql reads green as if the server is up, but nothing else seems to be detecting it.

OK managed to find the driver I needed here.

However that still hasn't solved my problem unfortunatly. Anyone have any sugestions? I mean the admin. tools won't log into the server and the emulator won't detect it either. I have read and reread over everything on how to install it and my eye balls hurt now. So any help would be greatly apriciated right about now. Thanks in advance. :)

OK got everything squared away with the server finally. Now it is telling me that world exe and the zones won't load item data. Can anyone atleast help me with that? Tell me where to look so I don't have to sift threw every thread for an answer? I'd apriciate it. LOL!!!! :lol:

OK Before I came back and read this I downloaded the 44dr1.zip and tried it. It helped out some. I'll go get that zip file too just to be safe. Here is where I am at now. It show's my server name finally, but I read locked and I can't log into the server. I get a 1017 error instead when I try logging on. I am still reading around, but haven't spotted anything yet that really goes into what I am trying to do. I know I am over looking something, but haven't quiet put my thumb on it yet. I bet it's probably something simple too. Anyway I gotta crash now. I been up all night playing with this thing. Don't supose you have any sugestions? Either way thanks for helping me man. 8)


Note: I did try what was stated in this post below and it told me it can't access db.ini so mabye that will shed some light on it. I haven't really found anything so far with someone having that issue yet.

Do you have mysql installed correctly, and is it running as a server every time you boot, and is there a database in there?

Yes. I even redid everything twice just to be sure.

Sorry, but thoose MYSql Server Error occurs if the mysqladmin.exe is NOT running. So EQEmu can't access the Database.

OK If that was the case then why can I log into the data base with only the admin. tools and not the emulator? The mysqladmin.exe is running, the only thing that I did even remotely different was I went into msconfig and unchecked mysqladmin.exe so it wouldn't load everytime on start up and so that it would load only when I wanted it to. That shouldn't effect anything as far as the server actually working or not. If the server wasn't up then I shouldn't be able to log into the data base with the admin. tools, right? Also when the game pulls up it reads my server, but it says locked beside it. I am willing to try anything at this point though. I ran outta solutions myself currently. What do you sugest?

Load it at startup. I couldn't get mine to work without it umpteen months ago.

Already tried that one. That's why I said it didn't make a differance. I tested the server with the ODBC Data Sources in the control panel and it tested good. I even just finished adding worlddata beta5 to see if that helped. I had beta4 off the web site installed, but it's still giving me the same errors. It will conect for like a brief second and then disconnect all together again. You think if I recreate the database server orginally threw ODBC Data Sources that may make a differance somehow?

I had it load at startup, and didn't mess with the ODBC driver besides installing it. It's been at least 8 months, so I can't remember enough to help you. :(

OK I relized I didn't change the name and pass in my db.ini and I think that's what may have caused alot of my problems. My next question now is, does this thing use alot of rescources when it's running? Asking becuase things seemed to lag up pretty bad when I turned it on. I unfortuneately only have 64 megs. of RAM to work with currently. I am still only using the classic version and pre-Luclin expansions. That's why I am only trying mini log in for the time being. I am currently building a system of my own to be able to handle the higher grade specs. and stuff. Anyway was asking becuase I didn't lag up like that when running the emulator on the HQ site, but it's just got alot bugs when it comes to loading into different zones. Not to mention the forums over there seem to be dead as heck. And while I am mentioning it I did noticed an over all piss poor attitude over thier with people when they do finally post or ask something. They either get ignored or are spoken to rudely. Kinda why I ain't posted on thier board becuase it seemed pointless. Here the boards are active and most of you guys have been helpful to the magority of people I have seen post. Not to mention it's way more active over here and that's always a plus in my book too. :wink:


Oh and off topic for asec., but which server on EQemu is run the most frequently or stable I guess. What I mean is last few days I logged into a server on EQemu the next day it's gone. LOL!!!! Anyone run thier server on a regular basis? :roll:
