Ok. I have looked a lot of messages of 1017 error but i couldnt find the solution.
My problem is that i can log in eq with my name and password.
Then, in the server selection screen I can see my server but when I click Play everquest button, appears this message:

Error 1017: Cannot login to the Everquest server. You may need to re-run the update patch. Repeatedly seeing this message indicates loss of conectivity to the patch sever. this is usualy temporary

I tried to run the patch.exe I have the version 1.0.1. but it didnt work. It only opens a window but nothing is downloaded, and my connection dont receive any signal of archives received.

Another question: In mysql (version 3.23.56-win) into the environment "zone", in a window called myodbc are writed
Not found
Driver 3.51 not found
This can affect the game?
What can i do?
I run WINXP, Eqemu 0.4.4, eqw2.35a.
I dont think that the other archives (db.ini, loginserver)were bad, i revised it a lot of times!(and it is too much to write it her and now... )
Merci,Danke,Gracias,Thanks!

Just a guess but I'd say you NEGLECTED to change you minilogin.ini

You need to put the proper IP and USER/PASS.

Patcher is your problem - post the dialog it puts up when you try to patch.

Bump

I'm having this exact same problem (The 1017) when trying to log into a server. I installed/patched EQ today.

I thought the minilogin was for running your own server? why would that have to do with a 1017 error if your trying to play the game?

I can log into my own server on the comp im hosting and im not using the minilogin. on my client comp i try to play on my server and get 1017 error, but i can play on other servers with the client comp. do i need to use minilogin for my client pc to be able to play on my server comp?

please help thank you.

heres how i solved my 1017 error while playing on my server...

i DIDNT!!!! I REPEAT DIDNT! USE THE INSERT ACCOUNT COMMAND! everytime i used that command it would give me the 1017 error while trying to play on my server. then i made a new account and didnt use the insert account command. and it worked

the insert command:

INSERT INTO account SET name="accountname", password="pass", status=200

that command i think i wrote it right its been a while since i used it last...anyways its what screwed me up

Im having the same problem, trying to connect to my public server.

I have updated and patched using the eqgame -patchme, then used the latest EQEmu patcher.

I can see my server in the list but i get a 1017 error when i try to join from either of my pc's. I have only just started using this emulator so im not sure whether the errors are normal or not, such as eqtime.cfg etc which is supposed to be normal.

there is an error on line 2 of the world.exe which might be the cause?

[Error] CURRENT_WORLD_VERSION:EQEMu 0.4.4

here is the server info:

### --- This file tells world.exe what loginserver to connect to.
### --- Leave the account and password field BLANK.

### --- Public Login is un-supported as is LAN playing. We reccomend using the EQEmu.net Loginserver ALWAYS.
