You must wait until the next release of eqemu that supports LoY and all features up to current. Sit back. It could be a while.

Even if I do not LOY installed?

If you patched after December, yes.

Is thay why im having all that trouble? :( I will have to find away to make it work! :P chances of acctually making it work = 0, but I like playing around with files, so I will do it anyway! :P

I got it to work just by playing with that stuff from this page... weird... I just patched with the server the other night too. Is that supposed to happen? After seeing people talking about banning on here I'm afraid to say what I did even though it seems legit (since I did it all from this page). Who should I talk to, to see if I did anything I shouldn't mention on this page? No warez or anything...

If you found a good way around it, I want instructions. If you tell me how, I will be your best friend! :P

There is only ONE good way around it.

Wait for the new EQEmu Patcher to be released or until the current patcher is brought back up.

That is absolutely 100% the ONLY way to play EQEmu after december 2002.

No eta so dont ask

I can play it . I don't crash or anything. I am asuming that the problem is only there for people trying to make a new server (because I tried and I got and after the source reloaddb.sql; which I had to turn off because it was beeping errors for well over 10 minutes...) and I really don't think you should make poor us suffer :( well *sigh* if I can't find away around it here, I will find a way somehwere else I guess *sigh* if you think there is something in my post that you would think is against the rules (I dont think it is but I may be wrong....) you can delete this post. :) I just want to play around with options. I can't really host a server anyway

Ok. I can play too. I am having trouble getting the server to run. Is the problem supposed to be playing EQemu or running an eq emu server? Because it runs just fine with only resources downloaded directly off of eqemu.net main page, a real copy of EQ and being currently (June 2003 now) patched from everquest.

Running EQemu is a different matter. Still having problems. Is this what the problem is? If it is then I think some people are being mislead into thinking that you can't play on an EQemu server if you have been patched recently.

If you somehow get the EQ patch files without using the EQemu patcher (when it is available again), and you 1) give them out, or 2) tell someone how to get them, or ASK for them (in ANY way, directly or indirectly), then you will have your post deleted and could get banned (at moderatores discretion).

Those are the rules, deal with it, or leave.

I got the rules :) , but the patcher is down? :? I thought I was using it every time I got into the game....unless your talking about a different patcher. I got the one from your site, and it seems to work fine for me....

you dont have to use it to launch EQ. you can use EQW 2.32 for that.

So what you are saying is, if someone does find a way around waiting for the new patcher they should not share this info? I am just curious as to why? I am just wondering, not trying to make waves or step out of line.
Good luck with the new patcher, and god speed on it!

Well the ONLY way around the patcher to connect to the EQemu's own emulation server running is with the older patch or warez. If people get warez from this page then they have deffinatly croseed the line of being legal, thereofor they can get shut down. So if people talk about warez, those few people mayl get it working for a a little while, but the project will get shut down over it and everyone will suffer.

The thing that I think is misleading in their posts is that you CAN connect to your own EQemu server or others that are up on their login server with the current patch.

I'll tell you what I did (with programs from their main page only) to get it working (I still get the 1017 error from their own emulation though).

1) I installed Everquest.

2) I ran everquest without any changes to allow it to patch with the official server.

3) I installed the patcher from EQemus main page. http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/eqemu/EQEmuPatcher.exe?download
NOTE: It only worked for me when it was installed directly into my everquest directory. If it was installed anywhere else it failed.

4) I changed eqhost.txt as they mention on their page so you connect to their login server. http://www.eqemu.net/eqhost.txt

5) I registered an account with them. http://forums.eqemu.net/profile.php?mode=register

6) I opened EQ with EQW2.32 (newer versions of eqw did not work for me and don't seem to work for others either...) This is an external link http://rotccoverup.no-ip.com/eqw232.zip If you don't want to run EQwindows then you can make a shortcut to everquest and go into properties and after the c:\EQ\eqgame.exe write 'patchme' without the quotes.

7) I connected and saw all the EQemu servers.

8) I tried a few and can connect to most.

If you want to connect to the EQemu everquest server you have to wait I think, but if you want to connect to other servers from the EQemu login this works fine. Let me know if this helps anyone or if I was the only one confused by what they were saying...

4) I changed eqhost.txt as they mention on their page so you connect to their login server. http://www.eqemu.net/eqhost.txt

If you run the EQemu patcher (and it works) then you should already have the EQEmu version of eqhost.txt.
