I have done everything in the tutorial on how to make an offline local server and I can even log on and see the server I made but when I click it to log into it, get an EQ message after awhile that says this exactly: "Error 1017: Cannot login to the EverQuest server. You may need to re-run the Update Patch. Repeatedly seeing this message indicates a loss of connectivity to the patch server. This is usually temporary." Thanks for any help possible, and yes i've looked at the other 1017 error post in this forum but the somehow don't seem related to mine.

What version of eq are you running? Has it been patched recently?

I recently patched it just like what the tutorial said to do. I just can't seem to get to the character select screen with out running into this 1017 error I get.

I have to wait for a new version of EQEmu to be released that's compatable with LoY before I can play on my own private server offline?

Yes.

Then that would mean that no one else is able to play on a private offline server as well.

Unless they already have the eqlive patch files from 12/02. Many many people do. You are sadly not a member of that group. :(

But your statement will be true for all new members of the eqemu community.

So when is there ever going to be another EQEmu released? Or have I been wasting my time trying something that ain't possible.

ETAs are rarely given. The longest wait has been 3 months, I believe. Correct me if I'm too much of a n00b, guys.

We used to wait before the patcher. That was fun.

It's summer. There are way more devs lately. It couldn't be TOO long.

Pray with me, folks. Surely our faith will be rewarded. And remember - "Thou shalt not pester the dev team"
