we bought eq, what i dont understand is why we can't get a few files to make it work

how is it illegal for us to distribute the files, but not illegal for them to

It's addictive like crack, It's buyable like crack, It's illegal to distribute like crack. I think Everquest was made by people on crack.

You should pay for it, and not download it for free. Sony Classic only costs $10. That's cheaper than 1 mo. service.
